Man did this take me on a trip on the wayback machine when model kits were right up there with model trains. Amazing parallels between both kinds on collectors in this video.

While model trains is my 'first' hobby......plastic models took over for a number of years. I never gave up model trains.....but most of my free time was in plastic models. I helped run a nice hobby shop that was mostly plastic models and we were in the center of the NASCAR model craze 1980's - 90's as we were in Charlotte.....the focal point. That's when I started doing some work for the manufactures. We started our own line of model decals and parts. As I did more and more work in the plastic field it became less a hobby......to the point model trains take most of my time now.....and plastic kits are 'work'!!
Still a great hobby that is growing in it's own way....more really nice new kits coming all the time even if the group is not growing greatly. Thanks
