I believe only in conventional mode.
AFAIK, the TPC in any flavor has never had any sort of DCS capability, all it can do is emulate a standard transformer as far as DCS locomotives are concerned.
John, Matt is correct. The TPC has macros for things like firing the couplers in conventional mode. It is quite a bit "smarter" than a Powermaster or a standard transformer.
I did forget about that feature, I've never used it. I'm looking at the manual, it's curious they only mention PS2 for stuff like couplers, because I'd expect that people would want the capability for their PS1 locomotives.
I guess if it's good for PS2, it'll probably do some of the same stuff for PS3...
Later TPCs from IC Controls and Lionel TPCs ran proto-2 really well with the cab-1 in conventional, much smoother and slower than the dcs remote using a TIUs var channel
