i have a modern Lionel 8957 GP 20 locomotive. It derails after traveling about 5-6-7 times around the layout, right after a switch. I’m running clockwise and not taking the turnout.
i took a photo of the traction tire on the second driving wheel and it has walked out away from the flange. What is my remedy? Can I secure the tire by glueing it to the wheel?
Any advice is appreciated ❤️

The tire has expired. You should replace them all - Lionel part 222-108 - available from just about any parts supplier.
Traction tires are consumable items and must be replaced regularly. They usually stretch out or swell and become loose. Replacements are available from Lionel, eBay or your local service center.

That must be a bit of an ordeal to put them on, yes?
It takes some persistence, patients, and practice, but is very doable. Just don't stretch the new tire out.
If Lionel would copy the MTH practice of providing tire-less replacement wheel & axle sets and/or "scale wheel" sets, and a means of changing them out without a gear puller, that would end the tyranny of traction tires. 2RS doesn't need 'em or use 'em.
