There is the Great Scale Model Train Show in TImonium, Md. ( 45 min. form York ) which I think is either one week before York or one week after.  You can  check out the GSMTS website for info.

The GSMTS is a good show!  It's run very well!  I've been attending the GSMTS shows for about 20 years and have found some really great deals there in O gauge.  Although the show has a heavy showing of  HO,  I've always found a decent representation of O gauge ... sometime more sometimes less but always decent IMHO. The best show date is the February show and the second best is the fall show ( near the time of York )   Over the years I've purchased several engines both new and used at good price points.  I've also bought scenery items, freight and passenger cars, transformers, and accessories.  I've never been disappointed with the O gauge offerings.  I will say though, if you are 1:48 scale purist then this show might leave you being disappointed.

There's always several club layouts in all scales including O at the GSMTS.

@Lyle, I just got back into the hobby this past January and finally made it to my first few train shows. I’ve been gathering info on train shows local to me in Northeastern Pennsylvania and have two suggestions.

I still haven’t been to a Renninger’s show but the Great Northeast Model Train Show hosted by Bernie’s Model Railroad Shop was my first ever show this past spring. I felt it had a good crowd with a large variety of trains available in multiple scales. Food prices were extremely reasonable too.
