Mannyrock, with track sections costing anywhere from $5-$25 per piece, that is lousy advise.  Take $20 out of your wallet and throw it away and see if that makes you feel better.

Lark, Get out a meter and make sure that section of track is getting voltage.  Lionelski is correct, there could be a connection issue or a dirty track issue.  Don't overlook the outside rails either. It's not always the center rail that is the issue.

Get us some details of what you find out.  Pics or video can help us too.
