Beautiful observation. Trains are truly part of the magic of Christmas. I was 62 when I had my open heart surgery and it was a lot to handle - I have trouble imagining what it will be like for Grant, his parents, and you at such a young age. May God hold you all in the palm of his hand through these difficult times.

Thanks for sharing those precious moments with kids and trains at Christmas. The newborn of members of our church recently had open heart surgery shortly after birth.  Before birth, it was known that major arteries were reversed.  Completely successful. Amazing what surgeries can be done with children.  Prayers and blessings to Grant for a successful surgery and recovery.

Last year a friend talked to me for hours about his two-year-old grandson who needed surgery and chemotherapy for a tumor near his spine.  All went and is going well. Grant can be the third success story in this thread. Please do keep us informed, and we will keep Grant in our hearts and prayers.

Prayers up for all of them. Our young friend (and fellow railfan) Alex Goodwin has his final (we hope) repair surgery after a life-threatening bout with Ewing sarcoma. The story about how and why he’s still here is a genuine miracle, and it hasn’t been the only one in his fierce beautiful fifteen years when evenChristmas when he was nine was supposed to be impossible. May every one of the youngsters who need help get it in abundance, because God never has to take “no” for an answer!

My wife and I will definitely keep Grant in our prayers.  Cheers Jim

Prayers for all of you Alan.

Just wanted to let folks know that my grandson Grant's open heart surgery went very well today, and he is already out of recovery and in a room at Akron Childrens Hospital. The surgery lasted four hours and the lead surgeon said everything went "perfectly." As you can imagine, I am very relieved and happy. Now, assuming all continues to go well, Grant and I can run the Polar Express on Christmas Day and compare "zippers" in due time. My thanks to all who have supported Grant and his family with prayers and well-wishes, and a special thanks to several local groups that have conducted fundraisers on Grant's behalf. All I wanted for Christmas this year was for Grant to be well, so I got an early Christmas present . . . the best one I could possibly hope for.
