And please thank Dina for helping the NJHR crew serve lunch to all of us.

Joe

Hi Joe, the brick work was supplied by Ben it's a resin material. That company is not in business anymore, but I'm pretty sure there's other companies that make something like it. I did build the triangle section in the corner, the frosted glass is peel and stick contact frosted semi transparent paper that I bought in Home Depot. It's very cheap,

seven dollars for a large roll.

Alex

Ben, John, Victor, Vinnie, Merrill, the sponsors and the rest of the usual suspects who worked the trenches before & during Saturday's show:

My wife, daughter & I cannot thank you enough for once again opening the doors and inviting us in to your wonder room (as in "I wonder how much that cost?" or "Now I wonder how long & how many people did it take to build that?!").  The additions to the layout are simply overwhelming in their vision, scope and execution.  I really need to come up soon for an open house where I can spend about 3-4 hours photographing all the dioramas as the detailing is just really worth the historical documentation. What's really nice about that thought is that this time next year there will be lots of additions so I can do it all over again.

And as I wrote in an e-mail to Gerry, to describe your railroad with term "layout" cannot begin to capture what we experienced today. There are small countries in the world which don't have as much rail traffic as the club.

And i would be remiss without saying having missed both the 2010 and 2012 Open Houses along with too many Yorks, it was great to see so many friends (Marty, Dottie, Loco, Jim, Peter, Ed, Chuck, Bob, Chuck, etc., etc. and etc.) once again.

Felicitazione! (that's Mazel Tov in Italian, Ben)

Bill

Very well stated Brother Bill. In fact, I don't think I could improve upon it. Which doesn't mean I won't say something.

I put a "thank you" in the pictures thread, but it really belongs here. So Ben, John, Jim, Vinnie, Sean, et. al. THANK YOU SO MUCH. I've said it before, but it really is the best single day in my toy train world. Great friends, an unbelievable layout and wonderful food.

And the fact that it comes about half way between Fall York and Spring York is just icing on the cake. So many people who you don't see other than at York, you get to see an extra time, which is great. Dr. Peter, Don (missed Jim), Brian, Chuck (sorry about Earl Weaver -- great manager), Chris (I know I saw you a few weeks ago, but usually we don't), etc. It just doesn't get any better.

It seemed to me that there were a lot of changes on the layout in the last year. More buildings and they were really, really nice. I assume some of those were done by Alex. He does great stuff. I can't wait to get my Alex creation put where it belongs and wired. That's one of the other great benefits of both the Forum and Trainstock. The ability to see what other people can do and "buy into it" if you can. I have Silk City trestles and now an Alex building. I certainly don't have the skill (or patience) to build things like that. It is craftsmanship and I really do believe that you should try to do stuff with people who are a positive part of "your community". So for those who don't know it, ALEX MAKES GREAT BUILDINGS.

Best to all,

   Gerry

PS  I barely know how to say Mazel Tov in English, forget another language.

Yes I did. I was going to post a link here last night, but my computer was running slow with the videos downloading onto youtube.

I will also add photos to the Trainstock photo thread.

Thank You NJ Hirailers for a great day of trains and food. It was good to see everyone, glad marty was able to make it down from mass. (he did look good)

Dotty picked the 50/50 ticket, first one was a no show but as always she did not pick my ticket. so there is always next year.

Vinnie, my oldest son could not believe his eye's. he told me that your pigs in the blanket was gone in 6 minutes flat. the food was great as always.

Ben, my oldest son loved crawling under the layout, you made his day. I should of took your bet, as my pacific pulled your 10 car train plus my one for a 11 car train. and my train master pulled the same 10 car train.

Thank you all for a great day, the new scenes, new extention's, the scenery is coming along great. looking forward to trainstock 6.

Gerry I thank you very very much for the wonderful words, I appreciate it.

Thanks, Alex

I ended up not  being able to make it, Murphy must have had it in for me yesterday....ended up having car problems (that turned out to be something really stupid, aka a loose wire), then had issues with work that 'just needed fixing', guess who got called?),....then got home last night from watching our son perform, and found our production system's deploy had major problems, was up till 2:30 am....

In any event, I promise not to miss the next one, it sounds like a good time was had by all, and that is what is important, as for my whining, I'll think about being a Jets fan for far too many years and realize in light of that, yesterday wasn't too bad at all, despite the loss

Say, gunrunnerjohn, with all those RMT cars you just purchased, is this your consist?http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-VLU8d-bMPc
If it was, don't know how it could get lost. How many dozen cars were those two beeps pulling?
Personally bummed my plans to attend got waylayed and missed it. Will hopefully be at Trainstock6.

A great day for all, and the food was great, the company even better.  Looking forward to the next one, it's a not to be missed event.

I saw that little pair pulling them, that was pretty neat. They were working on pulling those cars up the grade, but they made it.  If you looked close, both locomotives were spinning their wheels.

All I brought was a couple of 4-4-2 Atlantics, a PS/2 and a Legacy model, the Wienermobile, and my TMCC PRR Speeder.  Harry had a bunch of freight cars and passenger cars, but we just dragged around some of the member's cars there, they were already sitting on sidings ready to go.

I didn't even use my DCS remote for the PS/2, they already had one configured to work with their TIU's and so they just lent it to whoever was running at the time.

Ah, loved your Weinermobile when I first saw your posts while constructing it and totally enjoyed seeing it running last weekend at North Penn Club's open house. Bet it was also a hit at yesterday's gathering. Still working on the volume boost fix for it that you were comtemplating?

I believe they are forum member RailRide's Plymouths and ore cars.  Definitely a neat (and different) display.  When's the next time you think we will see 30 of those strung together?

I'll also reiterate what many others have said, thanks to Ben for inviting us forum members and thanks to all of the members of the Highrailers for having us as guests!
