Except... we didn't do that. As the one who designs and maintains our pricing algorithms I can assure you there are no demand based pricing adjustments in our system.

Either you caught the item right before a price change (due to a change in our price from a supplier) or you purchased the last item we had available from a supplier and when our system switched suppliers it adjusted to a different price based on that suppliers cost.

Except . . . the demand also shrank when I bought. When I purchased, both the supply of units for sale and the number of people interesting in buying one shrank by one.  I think a lot of vendors could shoot themselves in the foot with dynamic price readjustment algorithms like this: what Trainz algorithm did in raising the price of their remaining unit is make themselves less competitive against all those vendors out there who did not sell one that day and kept their prices steady.

The important thing though, is that I got my loco (well, when it arrives today or tomorrow I will get it) at 20% off list: pays to really shop around.

Mario: I'm not ignoring you. I'm looking for an answer as to how exactly we messed this one up. I know you already went elsewhere, but I'd still like an answer myself.

Gone.

48 hours without a response in too long.  I ordered it through another website for $25 cheaper and I can pick it up; no tax and no shipping charges.

For every step forward that Trainz.com works so hard to achieve, it seems they take two steps back.

In this case, the train has left the station, and left Trainz.com behind.  I will consider them again next time.

Thanks,

Mario

Well it arrived about forty minutes ago.  I was escorted upstairs but the resident customs inspector who demanded the invoice and was not too pleased bu impressed I got 20% off.  Plus she thinks its cute (it is, actually): nice little engine.

The beating up on Trainz above notwithstanding, I've always had good results from them.  Three days from order to running on my layout.  Outstanding.

Many people own/have seen/reviewed/talked about these puppies so I won't add any review, but will say mine was perfect out of the box and everything works as it should and like all recent Legacy locos it runs amazing smoothly, slowly, in conventional on a ZW-L.

This won't be my absolute favorite, but it will get a lot of use and not sit of the shelf much: there is a delight in running smaller locos and this one is that, and a lovely model, too.

Lee, I really don't know how they set their prices, I was just rambling.  Something I find myself doing more often these days.  And it takes me a long time to type because I can't seem to spell anymore either.

Anyway, I'm glad you received your engine in good shape and it worked right out of the box.  I'm glad that you are happy with it.  You better put up a video and let us all see it running.  I'm really glad this didn't turn out to be one of those horror stories about new engines we often hear about.  I think getting a new anything, especially a new engine, brings out the kid in all of us.

Have fun with your new engine and don't forget the video,  Rick

Odd that people think that others should do business the way they did years ago.
May can not explain why their way was best or better.

What if companies decided to only make trains they way the used to? No TMCC, Legacy, Ps3.

Adapt and survive is my attitude.
Vote with your wallet. But live in present.

Plus I give Trainz.com an A+ for customer service, quality of product and the overall transaction experience.

But I am only speaking from my own experiences with them.
I am sure others have differing feelings about their own.
