Hello I need a source to buy some trees for my layout. Quality is more important than price. I just don't have the time to make my own. I did a search and was not able to come up with anything.
Thanks in adavance. Nick

try ebay or a store like Michaels arts and crafts a lot of stores will probably get flooded with those near Christmas
Scenic Express. Google it.
Grand Central Gems
I purchased Grand Central Gems Red Woods and Lodgepole Pines in all larger sizes. I also purchased the scrub brush, twisted wire trees by Grand Central Gems for background purpose.
I made some of the kit trees with glued on foliage on plastic trunks. After a year they were dropping crap all over the place and the plastic trunks looked like there had been a forest fire.
You could also buy a cheap Christmas tree and clip the ends off for small pines for background use. Use the expensive trees in the foreground as feature items.
Have fun. Good luck.
Sincerely, John Rowlen
Nick,
Plastruct has a pretty good selection of trees in its catalog.
Scenic Express, they carry a large variety.
Most of the trees on my layout are Grand Central Gems (via Scenic Express), and Bachmann Williams, along with some inexpensive garden variety imports purchased on eBay. You can't have enough trees on most layouts
Scenic Express has a great selection of high quality trees! I believe SE is a forum sponsor? If not currently they have been and I'm sure they are in OGR Magazine.
You can find surprisingly nice ones at the dollar store around the holidays.
Hobby Lobby usually has a good selection.
Scenic Express sells their "Super Trees" starter kit. Make your own deciduous trees, using their Super Leafs, that come with the kit. I Highly recommend this kit. The Super Leaf trees mixed in with the Lodgepole and Grand Central Gems will make any layout look realistic . A layout can never have too many trees'.... Evan urban setting layouts as well'... needs trees. I think you'll like the kit. It's fun to making the trees. And they stand up very well'... Good luck and have fun'...Landscaping'..
The problem with the Grand Central Gems and the other large quality trees fro SE, is the're always sold out'... And you have to waite a while after ordering '.... But they are worth the waite'...
These trees are definitely upper level, and are pretty pricey. But, you did say money wasn’t the determining factor.

Woodland Scenics has some GREAT Trees!!!
There are certainly some good sources in this thread. A big layout can use 50-100 trees. This is why I budget a range of 50 cents to $1 per tree.
Martin Wahlberg Scenic Studios has fabulous trees. I bought some from Scenic Express last year at York and they look fantastic on my layout. I plan to purchase more Martin Wahlberg trees at York next month too.
Hey Nick. This corner of my layout has around 80 trees. Almost all of them were purchased at Scenic Express. Check them out, they do offer a good selection and most of them are fairly realistic. The foreground conifers were made by me over 20 years ago from wooden dowels and Caspia ferns. Hope that helps.

Nick, here is a site you may be interested in as well. Some excellent trees as well and reasonably priced... Moose Creek Trees www.mooseCreektrees.com Also, Xtrains, some very nice easy and quick build trees and tree kits. xtrainsmodeltrains.net
I have purchased from both and very happy with their quality and realism.
WOW thanks for all the responses guys I appreciate it much. Nick
CHECK OUT COASTMANS EASY TO BUILD LOOK GREAT
Yes, Coastmans are at Xtrains'.. Very nice and look cool'...(Realistic)'..
I know you are after ready made trees. But I used to use Yarrow as trees. It grows pretty much everywhere. At first glance it resembles Queens Annes lace, but Yarrow has woody stems which make it ideal as it remains rigid after it's picked.
The flowery tops of the stems resemble leaves. They can be sprayed or dipped and flocked. Best of all, they're free.
Try Mister Train - Dechants depot We have purchased over 2000 trees from him He has many different sizes and he lets you mix and match They are great quality and price is right

FYI, I received an email last night that Scenic Express is running a store-wide 15% off sale this weekend.
I have not found a way to make trees on my 3D laser printers or my 2D laser printer.
However, these are laser printed trees!!
