This former route is 300 feet behind my house in the Niagara gorge. The roadbed is now a hiking trail. Part of one trolley stop , “Rapids”, still exists. Ended in 1935 after a big rock slide. I've seen all kinds of pics on facebook about this line. It would have been great to have it revived as a tourist attraction on our side of the gorge. I believe it would be next to impossible now?
Someone would probably twist an ankle getting on or off and end the madness of the attempt at this ride.
The gorge wall is unstable, with frequent rockslides. Night tours used a search light car, that illuminated the rapids. Along the path there are holes in the concrete that used to hold the trolley poles, which have long since rotted away. It must have been an awesome attraction!! John A
