I have a 50-1034 Wi-Fi module and a 50-1003 revision L TIU I'm trying to use with my phone. A PS 2 and PS 3 locomotive both lose lights and sounds but still run properly. The couplers work. Occasionally they will light up and sounds return but then 30 seconds later they shut off and the engine continues to run fine. My phone is an Android. Could it be the issue? What should I do?

Sounds weird but.... how strong is your track signal?
Does it happen if only the engine(s) are on the rails with nothing else getting power?
I seen to remember this happening to me on an engine. I maybe wrong. It was either a dead battery or bad track signal. It was a few years back now.
Definitely follow Joe's advice. He has helped me with a WIFI problem I'm working through. I'm wondering if you have a MTH handheld and if the engines have the same problem when run with the handheld. That might help determine if the problem is with the WIFI system.

I don't have a handheld, just my phone so I have nothing to compare it to. I have a BCR in the 2.0 locomotive. How do I test track signal? Am I just measuring voltage or something more advanced? Right now I just have a 6' diameter loop of new tubular track with nothing else on it. For what its worth, conventional Lionel works fine and the MTH locos run smooth outside of this sound/light issue.
To check the track signal tap the soft key icon ( the middle of the the icons in the bar just below the engine name ). Scroll down until you get to "functions" and then tap the Track voltage bar or the track signal bar.
Sometimes when I have trouble with a particular engine I'll try a feature reset. If that doesn't help then I delete it and then add it back in. If that doesn't help I try a factory reset and then you have to add the engine back in.

Thank you. I'll let you know what I find.
