I'm having a problem with my systems not recognizing any of my MTH engines. They are all shown in the hand held remote inactive list and will not move to active even though the engines are on the track and powered up. I have pressed the READ button but it still says No Active Engines. Any suggestions as to what the problem may be? I have two operating TUI units and neither one will respond.

Have you tried tethering the remote to one of the TIUs and seeing if it solves the issue?
Try it with ONE engine on a short test track first. See if the TIU and remote are working together at all.
I'll have to figure out how to do that and see if it works. Thanks
you might try remote a different remote sometimes if you have dropped the remote you may have dislodged the transmitter board and then you won't be able to get it transmit to the tiu.

That's why Lou suggested tethering the remote, that will bypass the RF link and the transceiver boards at both ends.
What number TIU is the remote trying to talk to? You said you have two, does each TIU have it's own number?
Also make sure you have a power source for each TIU, either power in line 1, or an external source.
Never ever miss the obvious... are the batteries fresh in the remote?
Go back to basics as stated in several post. New batteries in remote. Tiu powered via Fixed 1 or aux power. TIU led on and flashes the number of time for TIU address. If it is not on, your TIU does not have power. Can remote just talk to TIU. See it, call up the TIU revision data. If so, you know your communicating with TIU. Once that is set you can figure out if it will talk to a train.
Power in correctly and out correctly to track. Red to center rail, black to outside rail? Definitely have power out of TIU? Lock on light is helpful. G
