Do any of you have experience with the Ross turntable? Any advise or things to look out for?
Thanks,

Gromet,
I do not have a Ross turntable but I do have the first 36 inch transfertable that Steve produced. It has worked flawlessly for years (not a single misalignment). I also have over 100 Ross switches in my layout and would have a 36 inch turntable had it been available when I installed mine. Unfortunately the turntables were still in development at that time. Ross products represent very high quality and superior workmanship. In my opinion you cannot make a mistake with the Ross turntable. Its flexible indexing features are supurb.
Both companies make great turntables and both can be had with indexing. My club member has a Millhouse and it moves at a nice pace that indexing is not needed except, in situations like yours, it is hard to see the track alignment.
Both Millhouse and Ross make a wonderful turntable. They came on the scene long after I purchased mine. The unit I use is a product of Vernon Peachey who does not advertise his turntables. It has a 36" bridge and it DOES index. It is very heavy and rugged. You talked about a 24" turntable, so you may not want one this big. But if you want to handle the largest engines, this one will do it with ease including the PRR S1 duplex.
I hope this helps.
Gromet,
I used a MILLHOUSE Turtable for years. I couldn't see to line up the Rails, so installed a DALLEE Indexing Unit. It worked GREAT!! The Millhouse Turntable is GREAT too!!!

Al is releasing an index system for his turntables (Millhouse River), check his website.
I have the 33" Ross with indexing. It was one of the first ones produced. I have had zero problems with it, wish I could say the same about the rest of the layout. Steve is great at Ross and I know you will be very happy with your purchase.
