Two former Canadian Pacific G5 class 4-6-2 locomotives have returned to Canada after spending more than 40 years in central Virginia. Nos. 1238 and 1286 operated as the showcase of Jack Showalter’s Virginia Central.
So glad these are being saved.

Its really good to see these two engines are still in good shape. I remember when they ran on the old C&O Hot Springs Branch as the Allegheny Central Scenic Railroad back in the 70's. When the Chessie Steam Special came through the Covington, VA yard in 1979 they rolled out both G5's to pose beside it.

Before that they were owned and operated (with Reading 0-6-0T shop switcher 1251) by the late George Hart on the Ma & Pa between York, Yoe and Peach Bottom.
Where were they built?
I'm not 100% but I would say in Montreal, Quebec, Canada at the Angus Shops
They don't look bad cosmetically. Are they going to be restored and running?

Restored and running is the plan for them. They were both running in Virginia I am told.
They are owned by someone in Alberta, maybe one will go there.
I will update as I receive the info.
Excellent News! I wonder what the plans are for them and if they will actually get to run somewhere on a mainline. Ex-CNR 6060 is stuck on an old grain branchline in central Alberta, far from its former glory highballing down a mainline
