My Unique Art diesel has always run OK, but when I tried to run it recently it just sat and buzzed. The reverse unit was at fault so rather than mess about with it I disconnected it and added a rectifier. No problem in using a DC power unit as half my locos are DC powered anyway. Solved the problem and it runs and reverses fine now.

I was not clear when reading this, and then thought, "Maybe the Uniques had a DC
type motor, that reverses like HO?" Since this stated "half of locos are DC anyway"...
Unique Art uses a very robust series wound universal motor. It will run on AC or DC. It does not need a rectifier to run without the E-unit. It merely needs to be wired properly. But it will not reverse without either an E-unit or a DPDT switch.
The OP should probably clarify his post. As it reads now, it makes no sense.
The reverse E unit is left in place but wires to it from the motor are all disconnected. The rectifier has been added but I now have to use DC power, not AC. I can organise a wiring diagram if anybody interested.
Colin,
I understand exactly, now that you explained your rewire. I deleted both of my earlier posts out of respect .

That makes sense now. Thanks.
