Hey everyone again. I am adding unloading areas to my layout for dumping coal and logs, excetera. Is there an easier way to add unloading feature to my Ross and conventional Lionel tubular track? It is a real hassle trying to rewire my Lionel conventional uncoupling tracks. Any help would be appreciated as usual.

Thank you all, Jerry

You can cut and splice uncouple magnets into existing track.  I taken apart O-27 uncouple track and spliced them into traditional O gauge track.  Use a Dremel with a cut off disk.  Take your time.  Measure twice, cut once.  Wear safety glasses when cutting.  Those cut-off disks can shatter and send fragments flying.

Here is how I spliced in un-couple magnet and control rails for my 97 Coal Elevator.  The control rails I pulled out of an old 6019 track and mounted them to thin pieces of Bass Wood painted black, cut to fit between the rails.

With GG track, buy a package of their rails and make your own RCS tracks.  You can use your own RCS tracks to get the measurements for placing the GG trails, then wire them to the center rail power through a simple momentary switch.

You can do the same on the LIONEL tubular track provided you insulate the GG rail sections; e.g. using thin styrene between the LIONEL ties and the GG track then wire as you would the GG example.

I'm not sure I understood what you are looking for in this thread.

Another alternative would be to get a hold of the Williams By Bachmann operating Coal Dump, Log Dump and Boxcar.  You will also need the hand held transmitter, about $35.00.  These work by radio control and need no activation track.  I have all three and love them.  And now thanks to another forum member, I have the K-Line operating Milk car that also uses a hand held transmitter.
