Unresponsive Atlas Engine

Before sending it off for repair I would check to see if something is jamming the drive system. Make sure you can rotate the motor shaft and the wheels turn properly.

The other issue to check if you have spare boards is to swap the R2LC and the Motor Driver board one at a time.  If all other functions work on the R2LC, I am thinking the DCDR is the problem.   Of course that is the harder one to swap out, as Murphy would dictate.   G

Usually if the engine start as you indicated, there is no TMCC signal and it started in conventional mode. (1.) Check TMCC signal with another unit/locomotive.  (2.) If TMCC signal is present check the antenna wiring to be sure it is properly seated/no loose connections.  (3.) From that point problems point to the R2LC board, one of the three plug-in boards on top of the EOB mother board.  Atlas has always treated me well when it come to service and repair.  Request an RGA (Returned goods Authorization) before send the unit back. Actually, the sound starting without starting the engine sound kinda' like the R2LC isn't sending serial data and the RailSounds thinks it's conventional mode.  I'd certainly start with the R2LC.
