I recently purchased one of Lionel's Legacy Mallets (Nickle Plate Road).  I have run the engine quite a bit in the last three weeks or so and it has some of the best chuffing sounds of all my steam engines.  Over the weekend, I started it up and realized the engine sounds were hardly audible from just 6 or so feet away but the whistle, bell and announcements were as loud as ever.  I tried using the sound up button but it did not help.  I checked the volume knob in the tender and there was no increase in volume in the last 180 degrees of rotation of the knob.  I did an engine reset and it did not change.

Has anyone else experienced this kind of sound problem or does anyone have any idea what could cause this issue?

Appreciate any thoughts.

Thanks,

Don

Hi Don,

Try pressing AUX1 and the volume up button, that should raise the chuff and background sounds. You must press AUX1

Engineer begins radio dialog, dispatcher replies.
Volume UP
Raises the overall master volume of the LEGACY RailSounds sound system. To independently adjust the level of the background sounds only (e.g., the chuffing sounds and steam hiss), tap AUX1 and then this key
