Another LIMA/Pola/AHM conversion from the car that will not work with any other 3R cars to one that runs smoothly and tracks well AND looks good!!!

Today's victim is a AHM Gondola.  Pretty much the same process as the others....modified frame with Lionel die cast trucks this time mainly because there is no place to hide any weight. I think, not counting the 'project' gondolas, I have 3 in the fleet so I need to finish some of these. Here were I started......

The paint job was one of the better on these Pola cars....but I already had plans for a gondola....so it will be repainted too.

Stay tuned.....should be ready to show tomorrow......

Finished up the primary work last night. Will get weathering and flat finish after it cures some.

I removed the tampo printing, 2 coats of Dupli-color gray sealer. I then painted the inside with Dupli-color red oxide primer. Final color was a semi-gloss black. Decals were of my design and printed. I used a set of salvage Lionel trucks I had picked up at a train show. I have no idea what they are from.....very heavy. But they attached from the top of the truck...so I drilled out the threaded boss and used short sheet metal screws from the underside. Dusted the inside of the gondola with powdered chalks.

I'd like to make a load for it someday....but yet to decide what.....

On to the next conversion......I'll get the box empty yet!!

Thanks for looking....
