May 19, 2012 Springtime In Kentucky

LCCA-KyEventPostCard-1On May 19, the Lionel Collectors Club of America will be sponsoring a special event in Versailles KY hosted, by LCCA member Winfrey Adkins and other local LCCA members. LCCA Members and their families are invited to attend.Make your plans to attend this LCCA "Springtime in Kentucky "Special Event.

Visitors will enjoy a visit to Nostalgia Station Toy and Train Museum, a basement prewar and postwar Lionel layout and G-gauge outdoor garden railroad of Billy Wilson (RM 6906). Then board the Bluegrass Scenic Railroad for a two-hour excursion train trip through the Bluegrass Region. At Nostalgia Station you will see the lifelong collection of trains and toys of Wanda and Winfrey Adkins (RM #7180), which includes many rare and unusual items.

Billy Wilson has devoted 30 years to the development and construction of a spectacular Lionel post war collection and layout in the basement of his home. This display features hand painted murals for backdrops throughout the area, along with many of Lionel's operating accessories, locomotives, and rolling stock. Comic characters, along with super-heroes, can be found among the "people" on the layout, along with dozens of scale "muscle cars" on the roadways.

We have chartered a first-class passenger coach at the Bluegrass Scenic Railroad. Our charter leaves the passenger station and railroad museum at 2 o'clock sharp, and will last about two hours. The GP-7 powered train, consisting of passenger equipment from the 1920s, 30s, and the 50s, followsa line constructed in 1889 by the Louisville Southern (a predecessor of the modern Norfolk Southern). The rail journey passes through beautiful Kentucky cattle and thoroughbred horse farms on its way to the cliffs on the Kentucky River.

The entry fee for this event for LCCA members will be $20/adult if paid in advance or $25 at the door. Children 3-18 $10 in advance and $15 at the door. Children under 3 will be admitted free. Cost includes tickets on two hour scenic train ride. Please contact Winfrey Adkins at 859 509-6635 to make your reservations or for more information.
