Good job, you have put a lot of work into your Round House.

Alex...you are doing a great job!  You will really like Al's turntable.  You are giving me the desire to get back to work on the steam facility....I installed the turntable a year ago in January and haven't done a thing since, been too busy on other areas of the layout.  Your pictures will give me incentive to get back to the task!

Your turntable and roundhouse most certainly are coming along fine!

When I first read “…with manual indexing” I was visualizing a small hand crank operated from the periphery of the layout. But then realized that you must have meant the standard TT motor drive, which you will control with a manually operated switch or switches, correct?

Your roundhouse looks great and I can hardly wait to see pictures when you get it completed. I particularly like how the ceiling lights show up when looking through the doors.

Alex, to control my TT I will be using an HO transformer, because the TT is at

the edge of the table.Sorry I should have explained myself better

roundhouse.These are mirror bracket's that hold

a wall miiror in place.The light's are from some old

passenger car's that I dissembled.

thank you for your kind words.

First I would like to say you picked the right track and switches

great choice. I don't have a track plan believe it or not all of my

planing is in my mind. But I will try to draw a plan for you to see.

This track plan is very complex.When people come to see my layout

they can't figure out the track plan, they see a train a then it disappears.

It will take a little time but I will draw a track plan and post it here

Your a real showoff! First a picture of your layout in the photo album of CTT now this. LOL!! Looks really good! That was a great idea kitbashing the MTH Engine shed into a roundhouse. Again can't wait to see it in person. I may even come by next week! Like it or not. That is gonna look great when it's done.

Alex - thanks so much for posting this!  We (father-son project with my 8-year old sons) are finalizing our layout plan now and are modeling the late steam era.  We badly want a turntable and roundhouse.  This thread is very informative.  Just not sure if we'll have the room needed, though.  The area we can use is approx. 3 1/2 x 4 1/2 feet.  What size TT did you go with and how much actual room does it and the RH all take up, all things considered? 

Didn't even know about this TT manufacturer and was looking at the offerings from a few others.  So glad I discovered your thread for this reason too.  After viewing the Youtube video and then doing some quick comparos, seems like this brand might be the cadillac of turntables?

Hi Peter, thanks for you kind comment, the approximate size you will

need is 65 inches deep by 50 inches wide I know you have less than

that. But the turn table will fit and instead of a roundhouse you can

put an engine shed. Is there any way you can gain more room.

My roundhouse is scratch built and was made to the dimensions that I

had to work with. A roundhouse kit would be larger and would never fit.

As for the turn table it is a gem it 28 inches round, check out my thread

on 3 rail o gauge section to see it operating.

the roundhouse that I scratch built was originally a MTH 2 stall

engine shed so you can actually build it to your specs.

Just got my issue of CTT, opened it, and saw the photo of your layout in it - very cool!

Great job on finishing up the turntable. I like the color you picked for the control cab. Cinder base is a nice color to. Now you just need to find the right figure to have in the cab controlling the TT. On my own TT I used this Arttista figure. The guy is always sleeping on the job.

Hi everyone here is a drawing of my track plan, I hope I did

a good job and everyone can understand it. My daughter helped me with these drawings.

Lionel Jim I know you asked me for a track plan I'm sorry it took

There is two 072 lower run's and two upper level run's, one is

042 and the other is 054. The lower and upper levels are connected

as you will see in the drawing's.
