Thanks Alan, I have really enjoyed looking at your layout, especially the "L". I will be adding and "L" later, using Jim's stuff (BridgeBoss).

You will love the modular arch bridge. Mine ended up over 10' long leading from a 48" Arch up to the MTH **** Gate bridge. Didn't realize until last week at York that this is prototypical of the real bridge. Carl Schandelmeier, a good friend, even found pictures of the real bridge and gave them to me. It was a pure accident that I used Jim's modular arch bridge for this purpose but excited that I did. The bridge is wonderful, you will be happy. Jim is a great guy to work with.
Hey Gary....got my modular arches from Jim and posted this on both the 3-rail and Scenery forums. Didn't know if you saw the results but take a look.... Jim cut out additional pieces that I added to the bridge in order to allow me to cover the fascia of the layout and mount the bridge below the fascia so that I didn't have to cut out an area to fit the bridge into the plan...worked like a charm!!
Thanks,
Alan

Yes I saw this a few days ago. They turned out fantastic. Your concept to hide the bench work that you worked out with Jim is great! I love to recommend Jim to anyone, he is such a great guy to work with and his product is fantastic. I know you have worked with him before, but there are a lot of people that could benefit from Jim and his work.

In fact I need to talk with him about some straight supports that will go along with the modular arch bridge leading up to my **** Gate bridge. I was going to use mountain between the modular arch bridge and the bridge itself but not after seeing pictures of the real bridge. I was told that arch bridges precede the straight supports right at the real bridge. It was pure accident but I guess I was being prototypical and didn't know it.

Thanks for posting pictures of your layout. I enjoy seeing them each time. Would love to see it in person, but don't get to Arkansas much. In fact I have only been there once in my life. But if you ever get to Florida let me know.
Thanks Gary....

Yep, I have worked with Jim a lot and thus he has put his "stamp" on my layout. My favorite being the large train shed. He has a winner group of products and best of all he is willing to customize at a reasonable price that most everyone can afford.

By the way, we have a number of folks that have moved up from your part of the country to retire here in Mountain Home...can't figure out why since you live in a beautiful area!! In any case, you are welcome anytime to visit and be our guests! You may want to consider joining up with our fledgling Mid-America 3-Railer group. We are just getting started...I am behind on getting our website up and going because life has gotten in the way but hopefully sometime I will have a few days in a row to get it done. Anyway, our plan is for the group to get together just a few times per year centered around any member that would like to host a day event at their home or town. I think our next get together may be in February at "Ingeniero No1", Alex's home during the Great American Train Expo in St. Louis. Think about considering it....

Thanks,
Alan
Just finished the Christmas Village, track ballasting, lighting and of course snow. This was my first attempt at permanent scenery. I was originally from Indiana and the hardest part in moving to central Florida was not seeing snow at Christmas time. So, I had to have a Christmas Village on the train layout. Hope you enjoy

Taking the rest of the year off but already looking forward to starting the New Year off with adding scenery.
For those of you following this thread. I had a chance yesterday to see it in "action", and as a noobie, and having done about 98% of my research on this site because we don't have a club in the area... this was nothing short of AWESOME!.

As I told Gary upon entering the room... "Oh wow...and I mumbled a few other words of excitement under my breath Smile! This is the makings of what looks to be an outstanding layout! It is MUCH bigger, and dynamic than can be experienced in photos. I had no idea how much was actually going on with it until I saw it first hand. With 3 levels of track it has much to gaze at.

My original trip to see the layout was to purchase some pieces of scaletrax from Gary, but I quickly forgot about that as he explained the working of the layout to me and my family. We all had a great time, and I look forward to following the progress of the layout here... like I told Gary it is hard to believe that this he is only a year into the project. A LOT has been done in a year.

Thanks Brian for the kind words. It was a pleasure having you, your wife and son over to see the layout. And thanks for taking some of my left over flex track off my hands. You are more than welcome to come back anytime you are in the area.

Will be doing an update soon.  Had grandson for three weeks and had to take him and pick him up from school. 35 miles each way 140 miles per day.  Not good with the high gas prices.  But Mother was working, or so she says, bringing the new Disney Cruise ship to USA from Germany.  Tough work assignment.

Hi Gary, I just now saw your recent videos posted last month-- WOW, great stuff.

I saw a few of your freinds at York in April, Hope you and your family are doing well. They told me of some of your recent experiences and i was a bit concerned for you.

I will contact you by email direct.

Thank you for your kind words.  Wouldn't have been possible without some great assistance from the guys here at the OGR Forum.  There are so many inspirational layouts that are represented here on the Forum and seeing posts of their progress keeps me moving forward.  Looking forward to starting the scenery in July.

Hey Jim sent you an email and haven't heard back?  Did you make it to Florida?  If so, I am so sorry I missed you.  Did your plans get changed?

Thanks Jim:

You did a fantastic job working with me on the supports.  It took a few back and fourths to get all of the sizes correct and I will want to thank you for your patience and great work.  I love how the "EL" turned out.  You are the Best!!!

Had to wait on the EZ Streets to come in to finalize the placement of the "EL" but much of the work is now completed.  I also had to order in several MTH buildings to make sure that space and placement was not going to be a problem.  Here are the latest pictures and will add more soon.  This is the last two significant pieces to my layout that I have planned at this point.  I have waited until now to start finalizing the scenery.  But with this work effort completed I believe I am ready to dive head first into finishing up the scenery.  Hopefully will be running electric to all of the buildings in the next couple of weeks.  I will be using Computer Power Supplies (12V) and buss lines running around the entire upper level to supply the power.

Hope everyone enjoys.

It's been two years since my last post.  A lot has happen in my life during this time.  I was the caregiver for my Mother, which had lived with me for 8 years, suffering from Dementia.  She passed away right after posting two years ago and it took awhile to go back into the train room.  But about six months ago I made it back in and determined to finish up the scenery.  Thanks to Roger Farkash, TW Design, which taught me everything I know about scenery construction, and the product Trymer I jumped in.  Never having done anything like this before I had been worried since 2010, when I built the room for the layout, that I wouldn't have a chance of being able to do it.  But instead of talking about it, let me present my effort in pictures.

Early Rough Stage:

Hope you enjoy looking at the scenery.  It isn't perfect by any definition but I am pleased with how it turned out.  As I went along each step fell into place and at the end came together rather nicely.  Hope you agree!

Will be posting videos of trains running soon.

Thanks everyone for you kind words.  The best part of this hobby are the friendships that are formed and fostered.  I have met some fantastic guys and appreciate their friendship very much.  All are welcome when you come to Florida.  30 min from Disney off of I4.  Easy drive.  I did it for 25 years.
