For those of you following this thread. I had a chance yesterday to see it in "action", and as a noobie, and having done about 98% of my research on this site because we don't have a club in the area... this was nothing short of AWESOME!.
As I told Gary upon entering the room... "Oh wow...and I mumbled a few other words of excitement under my breath ! This is the makings of what looks to be an outstanding layout! It is MUCH bigger, and dynamic than can be experienced in photos. I had no idea how much was actually going on with it until I saw it first hand. With 3 levels of track it has much to gaze at.
My original trip to see the layout was to purchase some pieces of scaletrax from Gary, but I quickly forgot about that as he explained the working of the layout to me and my family. We all had a great time, and I look forward to following the progress of the layout here... like I told Gary it is hard to believe that this he is only a year into the project. A LOT has been done in a year.
Any updates on your layout Gary?
Will be doing an update soon. Had grandson for three weeks and had to take him and pick him up from school. 35 miles each way 140 miles per day. Not good with the high gas prices. But Mother was working, or so she says, bringing the new Disney Cruise ship to USA from Germany. Tough work assignment.
Gary your train room layout plan and layout are really
beautiful. Great work.
Thanks, Alex
Hi Gary, I just now saw your recent videos posted last month-- WOW, great stuff.
I saw a few of your freinds at York in April, Hope you and your family are doing well. They told me of some of your recent experiences and i was a bit concerned for you.
I will contact you by email direct.

Thank you for your kind words. Wouldn't have been possible without some great assistance from the guys here at the OGR Forum. There are so many inspirational layouts that are represented here on the Forum and seeing posts of their progress keeps me moving forward. Looking forward to starting the scenery in July.

Thanks Jim:
You did a fantastic job working with me on the supports. It took a few back and fourths to get all of the sizes correct and I will want to thank you for your patience and great work. I love how the "EL" turned out. You are the Best!!!
Had to wait on the EZ Streets to come in to finalize the placement of the "EL" but much of the work is now completed. I also had to order in several MTH buildings to make sure that space and placement was not going to be a problem. Here are the latest pictures and will add more soon. This is the last two significant pieces to my layout that I have planned at this point. I have waited until now to start finalizing the scenery. But with this work effort completed I believe I am ready to dive head first into finishing up the scenery. Hopefully will be running electric to all of the buildings in the next couple of weeks. I will be using Computer Power Supplies (12V) and buss lines running around the entire upper level to supply the power.
Hope everyone enjoys.

Hi Gary, You are very welcome.
It was a pleasure to work with you on this project.
Hope to see you and this great looking layout in early June.

It's been two years since my last post. A lot has happen in my life during this time. I was the caregiver for my Mother, which had lived with me for 8 years, suffering from Dementia. She passed away right after posting two years ago and it took awhile to go back into the train room. But about six months ago I made it back in and determined to finish up the scenery. Thanks to Roger Farkash, TW Design, which taught me everything I know about scenery construction, and the product Trymer I jumped in. Never having done anything like this before I had been worried since 2010, when I built the room for the layout, that I wouldn't have a chance of being able to do it. But instead of talking about it, let me present my effort in pictures.
Early Rough Stage:
Add Glass Shelves
Trains
Hope you enjoy looking at the scenery. It isn't perfect by any definition but I am pleased with how it turned out. As I went along each step fell into place and at the end came together rather nicely. Hope you agree!
Will be posting videos of trains running soon.
Gary
Gary,
Going from not knowing how to do scenery to what you have accomplished is over the top! Your whole train room and layout is truly amazing. I'm glad you were able pick up again after the loss of your mother. Now enjoy the fruits of your labor and run the trains!
Side Rod
Unbelievable, Can't wait to come down and see it in person. Cheers!!
Great work -
Gary,
You certainly have accomplished a lot! I agree you have done a great job with it, and the scenery makes a great background for your trains to operate in.
Thanks everyone for you kind words. The best part of this hobby are the friendships that are formed and fostered. I have met some fantastic guys and appreciate their friendship very much. All are welcome when you come to Florida. 30 min from Disney off of I4. Easy drive. I did it for 25 years.
