When updating the Legacy Control System from ground zero, can you go straight to the latest update or do you have to do a progressive series of updates?

Unless you are truly starting at ground zero and running LEGACY 1.1 or earlier, contact customer service before attempting to upgrade.
Correct, 1.0 has to go back to Lionel. I wasn't aware there was a 1.1 version, when I got back the 1.0, it had 1.2 on it.
Will it say on the outside which version is installed?
If you fire up the remote with the base plugged in, you can check the versions of the CAB2 and Base on the screen, just press the red CTC button momentarily after the CAB2 has powered up and is displaying the main screen.
Here's mine, as you can see, the CAB is at 1.70 and the base is at 1.60.
