I figured out a new use for my Chuff-Generator, it's a diesel application!
I was doing a rebuild of a diesel and added a back-EMF motor driver (ERR Cruise Commander M) to replace the dead Odyssey DCDS. Sadly, the DCDS was providing the DUTY CYCLE output that controlled the diesel prime mover ramping. However, the CC M was outputting serial data on that pin. Since I had a RailSounds 4 board, it needs something to tell it the motor is running. Recalling the hall-effect sensor on the wheel of older TMCC products, I figured that the Chuff-Generator should be able to do that just fine. Sure enough, no sweat at all. I just programmed it for one "chuff" for each wheel rotation, that simulates what the hall effect sensor outputs. While I was at it, I used the ground light output to provide automatic cab light control since it came free with the package.
Just a little pearl in case you ever run into this situation reusing older sound board.
