It is with a heavy heart that I would like to let everybody know of the passing of Al Marchev of Doherty's Trains in New Jersey. Al fought a long battle with cancer. Al and his son Sean were fixtures at most of the Northeast train shows and ran their shop in Summit NJ . Al was a great guy and always had people laughing with his unique sense of humor. Very sorry to see him go. Rest in piece Big Al !!

Sincerest sympathy to Sean and Al's Family on their loss. Many the Lord give Al peace, and his family strength, during this time. May we remember Al as we knew him - and God grant him ETERNAL MEMORY. Dennis M.
Very sorry to hear that. Joe
I've been buying trains from Sean for over a decade, but have only talked to him on the phone once. Ironically, I talked to Al a couple of times about a year ago. He was gracious. My prayers are with Sean and his family. This is rough.
Sad news. Please accept my condolences.

I first came in contact with Al and Sean through last April's York meet. They were both stellar in helping me acquire a diesel from them that I forgot to go back for at the show. Sean and I spoke about his dad and having lost my mother to cancer in January I truly felt his pain. My heart goes out to you Sean, stay strong and know your father's spirit is always with you.
So sorry to hear this Sean, God bless you and your family.
Hope to meet you someday...
My deepest sympathy to Sean and family.
Can picture the guy right now, standing in his own corner there in the Orange, behind all those MTH building boxes. Was always good for an interaction or two, regardless whether you were a customer or not. R.I.P. & Thanks.
Though I did not know him, my deepest heartfelt sympathy to the family. It's always sad to lose loved ones. Fortunately we have the memories.

I really hate to hear that. I never knew Al, and I'm about to do business with Dohetry trains, but I'm more than sure that he was a great guy. Sean, you definitely have my condolences, and may Al for ever rest in eternal peace.
I met him once at his store and I talked to him once on the phone. That day at the store I wanted a small Lionel building and Al didn't have it in stock. He went out of his way to order it for me and had it shipped to my door at no extra charge. He was a really nice guy. Very pleasant, gracious and he just seemed to be in general a good person. I'm very sorry to hear of his passing. My sincerest condolences to the family.
Sean is also a very nice guy even though I haven't bought a lot from him he always says hello when I see him at various train shows/York.
Sad news indeed! I didn't know Al well, but often saw him at York. Condolences to Sean, and to the rest of his family and friends from all of us in the OGR family.
This is sad news, I wish AL, Sean and his family all of God's blessings through this rough time.
