I was double heading my two Vision Gensets when the second unit derailed and there was a momentary short. 1/4 of a second.

Both were in "lash-up" when the brief short occurred. The unit that derailed now takes off whenever power is applied. I tried a

reset and re-programming. Both operations are difficult because with more than 8 or 9 volts, the Genset takes off. Interestingly,

command operations other than speed of the loco do work. As the loco takes off, the horn does respond to the remote. I wanted to

know if all command functions were being ignored. I am now unable to restore command function for running. I tried the loco on

different sections of the layout with different circuits. I shut down power to the layout and restarted. I shut down the remote and re-started.

Same result. Legacy base lights were on the entire time and other Legacy diesels functioned fine.

Suggestions other than sending back the loco? I have contacted Professor Reagan and I am awaiting a rely.

Hi Eliot seems to me like you have some sort of electronic issue going on. With your base hooked up the engine should recognize that it is in command control.

Did you try using the halt command button to stop all trains to see if the engine would sit still? If so then you should be able to reset the engine after halting it.

Your experiences are very strange but I think other people have had the issue. I think it comes down to your engine thinking it is in conventional mode than command mode.

Interestingly, I have found that some Lionel locos, the latest ones, will hang a roller when going in reverse over Atlas O switches. For some reason, one of the rollers on these locos hangs too low to clear the frogs. The Vision Gensets were lashed cab to cab so the second unit was really going backwards at the time. I am very careful now to run Legacy/Vision locos forward over Atlas O switches.
