Picked up a Vision Line Cattle Car this week for my wife.  She has wanted one for quite some time to go with all her other stock cars, corrals, barns, etc...

Having almost 30 Legacy engines, I am familiar with the procedure, but this one is causing me some grief.

The manual states to configure as "other" using version 1.2.  However, in version 1.52, I cannot seem to find "other" anywhere.  No matter what type I pick, nothing seems to work properly and the car does not respond.

Does anyone have this car?  If you do and are running 1.52, can you please pass on what type you are using.

Much appreciated.

Gary

Thanks.  Tried FRT, but no luck with sounds, but the coupler fires.

On min setting, it just sits on the track, no moos, but about every 5-6 seconds makes a strange kerplunking sound.  On max setting, it moos uncontrollably, but also kerplunks every 5-6 seconds (sorry for the poor sound description, I will try to make a video tomorrow).

I thought there was also suppsed to be "yehaws" as well when sliding the bell and quillable moos when sliding the horn?  Not getting any of these either.

John,

Yes it is. It's an Arduk test station. It's not made anymore but I really like it. Has a volt and amp meter, voltage control, continuity test with a beep, one of each type of socket for a lamp test, whistle / horn control,  small test track with accessory track up top and it takes the TMCC feed so it works with Legacy. It also has an AUX output so it drives the test track I have sitting in front of it. I've always wondered why no one is offering one of these anymore.

thanks for the video. As you guessed, a trip to service is in order. The klunking is one element of the sound pallete that plays while the car is in motion. Obviously, you car is not moving. Hard to guess which of the boards might be causing the problem but service should be able to make that assessment when they have the product in-hand.

Update:

I sent Lionel a note to request an RA# so I could send it in for repair.  They sent me a number along with a note that in accordance with their warranty policy I would have to pay $60.00 for labor plus parts, along with shipping from Montreal to Ohio.

Even though I purchased it new from a Lionel Dealer on Sept 24, because this item was manufactured in 2009 it was out of warranty, the repairs were chargeable.  Oh well.

I decided to return it to the dealer for a full refund instead.  Maybe I will come across another one someday.

Lionel should reconsider the policy of not honoring the warranty on older items that are NIB - especially if they are bought from an authorized dealer.  I buy many older items from my local dealer that are much older than your cattle car. I'm thankful that so far everything works, but I think it is the dealers that are really the ones that get the raw deal in this and I would hate to see them stop holding on to items past when the warranty expires. This is a hobby of collectors. I think we have all at one point or another sought out something that was an older item that we subsequently decided we really wanted to have.

After reading this thread, I checked my Cab-2 screen for Stock Car. I have V1.51 programmed into the Cab-2 and Legacy base, when I choose Stock Car my screen looks like V1.2 and the icons do not reflect V1.3 or higher. The Cab-2 is programmed:accessory-freight, control-legacy and sound-legacy rail sounds. Where did I go wrong? Should I try and reprogram the base with the V1.51 module again?

I do not have V1.52 available to me. Whenever I try to load it onto my computer from the  Lionel site my computer goes nuts. The screen just flashes. I have Vista. I generally wait for the Greenberg show in Edison NJ, and the guys at the Legacy demo booth do it for me. My question is why do I not see the correct icons with with V1.51?
