Vision line GS4 will not run

Check for mechanical bindings in the drive train. Traction tires jammed. Brake shoes riding against the drivers.

It would be helpful if you described how you are trying to run the engine.  Are using conventional control, TMCC, Legacy, or Blue Tooth?  If you are using one of the Lionel command control systems check to see that the Run / Program switch is in the Run position.  NH Joe

I am running using the Legacy cab2.  Ive tried it with the remote and ipad.  It definitely seems bound up.  The rods look ok and wiggle when I try to rotate the drive wheels but the drive wheels are bound up. It only has 2 traction tires on the rear set of drivers and they are ok.

Sounds like you've tried everything, but maybe this from the manual for your locomotive will help -

Locomotive diagnostics  - Your locomotive includes built-in diagnostics to monitor the condition of the main drive motor. If a problem is detected, the locomotive's cab light will blink a diagnostic code. If you see the light inside the cab flashing, press RESET (for LEGACY operation), 0 (for TMCC operation), or DIRECTION/power interruption (for conventional operation to attempt to clear the problem. The locomotive will immediately check itself again. If the problem persists, the cab light will blink the code again. Number of Blinks Diagnostic Code

Description 1- Main drive motor stalled.

Thanks Mike, where do I find the reset button on the remote? is that the same as the set button

to the left of the. L,M,H momentum buttons?

It's on the LCD display of the Cab2 'R' the engine's lights should blink and the horn should blow

I started up the GS4.  I tried to run it forward and reverse.  The cab light started blinking so I hit the reset button.  The whistle blew once. What does that tell me?  

After doing the reset Ive lost all communication with the GS4.  Do I have to re enter the ID number via the program switch?

While a simple reset should clear the code of it looks like it won’t respond then reset the TMCC ID I had a newer veranda with the same new LCP(X) board and it did loose it’s ID number after the full board reset. I don’t know how just hitting the “R” or the 0 position on the cab-2 made it loose its ID.

upon the mechanical inspection make sure neither eccentric frank is out of place, if they get loose and out of position they’ll bind up in a heartbeat

I just got a reply back from the Lionel service center and they said that the “ dog bone fell out replace it and tighten up motor mount screws”.  My question is what is the dog mount?

Here are visuals of inside a GS1 loco. They have the same lower frame. The dog bone is what connects the worm gear to the motor.
