Had a very enjoyable excursion today to Captain Johns House  He has an awesome layout  We went to pick up a dinner bell that we traded some things for   The dinner bell came off of a steam engine  very cool

Marty and Dottie joined us for some great hospitality by John and his wife.  His trainroom is the most organized one I have ever seen

After we ate a great meal from John wife we ran some trains.  Of course Marty had to show us he can take apart 20 trains in one minute and put them back together   Amazing thing was they all worked.  John had this old Juke box that we played some appropriate music for Marty's adventure

It was a real pleasure for my wife and I to host Ben, Vinny, Marty & Dottie. Ben gave me some great ideas on adding more switches & bridges. Had a problem with our Big Boy negotiating 072 Gargraves track. Marty was able to figure out that problem. Vinny, I'm sure that bell will ring out many great meals from your kitchen. Looking forward to Trainstock 6 next January.

Sound on the bell is awesome but you really have to hear the sound in Captain Johns train room sometime if you want to be impressed.   He played a recording of a train bearing down on us and I was getting ready to run.  The whole room shook and the sound was unbelievable.   After I calmed down a little I started playing with the 1961 vintage jukebox that he has in the room. He had the thing completely rebuilt and it works and sounds great.  We were having a name that tune contest that Vinny won.  Too bad we wern't on the $64,000 dollar question.  John also played a clip from Murray the K and the Swinging Swarray that brought back many memories.

PS John  Everytime we hit a bump on the way home we heard the bell ring  It was really quiet until we hit the New York border.  I guess we have more bumps here.

Vinny is second to none.  He knew tunes after a few notes that we enjoyed before he was born.  We all thank John and his wife for the great day.  Great company, great trains, great food and music.  What a great warm up for York week this was.  Thank you again.

Ben, I get more money if they run.  When I get tough ones, I call on my good friend Locolawyer to bail me out.
