I finally had a chance to check this model out and immediately there seems to be an issue. The stack smoke and steam cylinder effect seem to be working in reverse, meaning they do the opposite of what the manual says they do. So, the cylinder effect is on all of the time, whereas pressing Aux3, which is supposed to trigger manual operation of that feature, actually triggers a constant flow of smoke out of the stack - no chuffs, just smoke lasting several seconds. On start up, the stack will smoke for several seconds and then stop, but the cylinder smoke is running.
This can't be right. I wonder if the smoke unit wiring for these features has been reversed? Before I loosen the four screws and have a look inside the boiler, I thought I'd ask here, as I am not sure exactly what to look for.
Everything else seems to work - whistle, sound, lights. Any ideas?
What a pain! I tried a soft reset and giving the engine a new ID. Same result.
