i have a set of older williams amfleet cars i want to update specifically i want to do sticky back vynil or similar strips printed with phase 4 or 5 striping to replace the older 3 stripe scheme. Anyone ever have something like this printed by a graphics place before? Will they print an amtrak logo if i do the graphics or is there trademark issues? Is it expensive?

Yes and No.  I have found the larger companies (like Kinkos) will refuse to do anything that might get them into copyright or trademark issues. The few smaller places i tried would have done it, but did not have a thin enough material to give a proper look to the finished product. The cost was determined by whether or not you had camera ready artwork or not.

I've had very good results just using my own computer printer (an Epson) and the printable white vinyl you get at Michael's.  You want the Cricut brand, which is the thinnest.  Best to touch up the edges with a colored Sharpie before you peel and stick.  Really long pieces don't always print right, but if you have to splice, it really doesn't show.
