I recently bought some Walthers and All-Nation O scale heavyweight car kits. Due to the length of the cars I was wondering if 48 inches would be a suitable radius for the cars to run without problems.
A lot will depend on how much detail you add around the trucks. If they are allowed to swing freely you would be able to run smaller radiuses. Then overhang can be an issue.

Which kits specifically, what trucks you plan to use, how they are mounted, steps and other details added thereabouts may impact physical limitations. Aesthetics and appearance are in the eye of the beholder.....
