Have I Got A Layout For You!!

Really? As you all know, METCA is the host division for the TCA 61st National Convention in 2015. One of the highlights of any convention is the Friday evening home layout tour. The host member can expect either one or two groups of convention goers stopping by for roughly an hour. What do you have to do? What you enjoy the most, showing off your layout and sharing your love of toy trains with others.

The groups generally consist of 55 or so train collectors. No, they all don't have to view your layout at once. They can socialize in your backyard or garage while you take a comfortable size group through the layout and collection. Refreshments will be furnished by METCA but you can feel free to supplement it with anything that you wish.

We are beginning to finalize the trips and tours list for the convention and would appreciate members opening up their homes for layout tours on Friday evening, June 26th, 2015. The tours generally take place between 7:30 and 9:30 depending on location and travel time.

Wait!! I would love to show off my layout but Friday evening just doesn't work for me. How about a weekday afternoon? If we get enough people who would rather host daytime layout visits, we can definitely try to put something together. We would need roughly 4 volunteers as the bus company does charge us a minimum for the use of a bus.

If you are interested in helping to make the convention a success, please email your contact info (phone # and best time to call) to Rich Levow, Trips and Tours Chairman, rlevow@hotmail.com.

Thanks and keep those tracks clean!

The Convention Hotel and site is the Garden State Exhibit center in Somerset NJ with excellent access from within the METCA division regional area. The planned menu of trips and tours and activities to be available to prospective convention attendees includes venues and an array of activities throughout the METCA region, including New York City, New Jersey, Long Island, New York State (both sides of the Hudson) and Connecticut. There are some interesting and unique Home Layouts within the METCA region ( and Adjacent too) and if you have a Home Layout in the METCA region and would like to share it with convention attendees in 2015, we will do our best to make it happen.

Its quite a challenge to run a TCA convention in the New York City Metropolitan area Jersey, METCA is certainly going to try to bring you a most memorable convention experience. So if you have a Home Layout in the region that you would like to share with TCA members in 2015, Please let us know. Rich Levow is our contact man.

Tom's Trains Store located in Ardsley, New York which is about a 25 minute drive north of the George Washington Bridge connecting Northern New Jersey with upper Manhattan has a nice 3 level layout. It measures 17 x 6 feet and operates 5 train sets

plus lots of accessories and an amusement park with 12 operating rides. If a tour that would include coming to the Westchester County area is possible I am sure Tom would agree to host an open house. Tom Nuzzo from Lionel has been to the store twice to show how the Lionel Legacy System works. Steve Muzzo from METCA has also been to the store to do the same and should be coming to the store again this year.
