Hi everyone, This was a labor of love! There are some flaws, I learned a lot and I might have the only one in "O" scale,

Paul you've outdone yourself on the station. I'd be proud to have it on my layout.
FANTASTIC! I didn't know there were two of them until the above post. What/where
did you finally get plans to go with this project? I remember your post looking for them...now I'd want to load my model in the back of the van and drive to both sites
to do a check on just how accurate it was...even though it really looks good, unless
you managed to do that before well along...
Thank you everyone for your kind words. Coloradohirailer, Walthers put out an HO kit modeled after the Wausau depot. I bought it, took measurements and converted to "O" gauge. It was better than a set of plans because I could see it in 3D.
Paul, that looks great you should be very proud. When available, some additional pictures of the station in its environment would be welcome.
Thanks for sharing.

Paul,
That looks nice.

I think it's a beauty! Nice effort.

I commend you on your determination and creativity in getting this result from the original posting some time ago, "Where do I get plans for...?"
Nice work and it looks great!
It looks like a great result to me. Congratulations!
Great looking depot. Buy an HO and scale it. What a great way to go.
That is terrific looking station.
It is one of kind and you did it justice.
Thank you for the photos.
Thank you everyone for your kind words. There are more photos of the depot under the title 'engraved signage' also in this forum.
Paul,
You did a great job on that. It looks very nice.

Paul,
I still think you are messing with our minds by claiming this to be your first effort. It looks FANTASTIC! What is next?

You have done a fantastic job of modeling the depot. I read many years ago in a popular photography magazine of the day that the ad was composed of two elements combined in a particular way so as to show the silhouette of the station at the top of the picture. Today we would say that the ad was photoshopped from two photos to yield the desired result.
I have just looked at a Wausau ad that is for sale on eBay. It is the classic ad from 1956 that shows the end of the station platform with the station sign "Wausau" on the lower level of the picture. At the top of the picture part of the downtown buildings are silhouetted against the sky. According to the small item that I read many years ago, the station and the downtown skyline shown are not in the spatial relationship implied in the ad art. Back in the day, the ad was an iconic one that appeared in many magazines and helped make Wausau well known.
Thank you all for the nice things you have said about my depot. Yes George, this was my first and maybe my last. I don't have anymore room on my layout unless I replace an existing building. If I did decide to build another scratchbuilt, I don't know of what at this time. It would probably be an industrial type of structure. RRBill, you are right about the ad. I grew up in Wausau and that skyline shot never existed.
