Waving the flags!!! Well, almost. I discovered these really cool railroad flags and I just wanted to share them with you all. As you are aware, we have a huge layout named: "The Glacier Line" which is primarily focused on Marias Pass, Montana and the Great Northern Railway.

James Jerome Hill ("The Empire Builder") eventually gained full controlled over the Burlington Route a.k.a. CB&Q, Northern Pacific and the Spokane, Portland and Seattle railways. Unfortunately, we do NOT have a SP&S flag, YET. We are going to have to custom make one ourselves.

These four railroads merged together in March 3rd, 1970, on what became know as "M Day." These became the Burlington Northern. In 1996, Santa Fe merged in as well and is known today as the Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) railroad.

I like having these flags as they represent the Glacier Line and reality prior to 1970. Maybe one day I'll add a BN and BNSF flag! I'm glad these turned up on Ebay, because I've searched for them before with no luck for many years. IMG_0554

John, are those repro flags?

No.  Reproduced.  I think by SoCal flags.  At loeast, that's what Ebay claimed.  Honestly, I was surprised that they are of as good quality as they are.  All were in new packaging; coming from an Estate sale.  Lord only knows how long ago these were made....I'm not talking actual historical days, I mean probably 10 to 20 years ago.  I've been looking for these for years.  Still working and hoping for an SP&S miracle.

My wife and I just purchased a "blank" flag hoping to find some in Indianapolis who can print the computerized SP&S logo onto cloth.
