I don't know if this is yet common knowledge, but I was just informed by his son, Luke, that Dale succumbed to a fast-growing cancer last week. So sad....Such a big loss to all of us.

Sending prayers to Dale and his family!
I've had several pleasant interactions with Dale over the years. He was the proverbial gentleman and scholar, and will be missed.

I have been in email correspondence with Micah Manquen, another of Dale's sons. Micah registered for this forum last night.
I will be posting something about this in the morning in a new thread.
Wow, shocked. He help me with so many TMCC questions over the years. Sad.
Dale was a real wizard with toy trains. He added magne-traction to a beep and train to run around his Christmas tree that was mounted on his living room ceiling...at least that is how the photo looked to me.
Rest in peace.

I almost fell off of my chair in front of this computer. Just communicated with him this month about a beta test for his Booster/Buffer for TMCC signal boosting. The Raritan Valley Hi-Railers and myself conducted the test 2 1/2 weeks ago so we could send readings back to Dale, with assistance from Bob DeGuarde of The N.J. Hi-Railers. Dale gave us a thumbs up to help out with the test, by phone. He had also "tweeked" three Cab-1 command bases for myself and a couple of other guy's in the group about a year ago. I'll never forget when I packaged the three Cab-1's in a High School fund raiser pizza box and sent it to him in California. I called him several day's later and asked him how he was making out with the Cab-1's. His response was "Boy was I dissapointed when I opened the box, expecting pizza, and didn't find that!" He had a great website that I learned so much from, and will forever be greatful to his sharing of that info. He also answered any and all of our issues that we had with our layout and can say that the man was a "giver", probably to all. Dale, although we've never really met personally, I feel cheated that I never had the pleasure to meet you personally. God loves a cheerful giver, and that was definitely was you!
Rest in eternal peace brother, you will definitely be missed.

Vast electrical knowledge and an unmatched willingness to share it. A definite loss for the forum family. RIP Dale.
Dale was a great guy. I had purchased a couple of items from him and he was always very supportive answering my TMCC questions. God bless and Rest In Peace Dale.
I just talked to him last month and we'd make a point to see each other at the local train shows. We were testing his TMCC signal booster at the club. My prayers go to his family. I'll miss him on both a very personal and hobby level.
Condolence and prayers to Dale's family on his passing , God Bless and RIP Dale. Dale was a great resource of information regarding electronics to the Forum members, he always responded positively, no arrogance and was instructive to my questions and to the questions of the Forum members, a true gentlemen in all aspects.
I am heartbroken to hear this news. I had been working with Dale to get my layout to run better. I spoke with him just a few months ago. I learned so much from him. I'm going to find something on the layout to name in his honor. Probably a small business, perhaps "Dale's Electronics" or simply "MANCO".
I'm sure where he is, all the trains run perfectly.
Unbelievably sad to read this tonight! And it gives us all pause to think how fragile life can be. I didn't know Dale personally -- only from his posts here on the forum. Calling him brilliant in the field of electronics seems an enormous understatement. And as Charlie mentioned, Dale was always willing to share that knowledge too. Prayers and condolences going out to Dale's family tonight.

I didn't know him personally but was a big fan of his website and youtube channel. He was a genius with electronics and toy trains.
For example, from his youtube channel;
I'm totally without words. Can't tell you how many times Dale help me with things over the years. RIP, Dale, run those trains.
My sincerest condolences to his family on their loss. I was always happy to see him at a local meet and he was always there to help and answer questions. He will be sorely missed.

He was so highly respected on here. A big loss to the Forum community. My condolences to his family.
I met Dale at the NAB convention in Las Vegas a few years back. A true gentleman.
Dale either directly or indirectly contributed to the Legacy Users Group meeting and set us straight on how the Legacy / TMCC "track" signal is propagated. His many contribution to this forum will be greatly missed. I for one will miss his posts as a Legacy user. Thank you Dale for your many contributions to our community.
Interestingly enough Dale was instrumental in the advancement of the "Flying Fader" for audio consoles. To me that was something I encounter almost daily.
My thoughts and prayer to his family and friends.
Great loss! Condolences to the family. He was a great asset to the hobby and very willing to share and help others.

A significant loss to our forum family and to the broader hobby community. Dale was an innovator and a creative and inspired forum contributor, and, perhaps most importantly, he was always willing to openly share his knowledge and experiences. Sincere condolences to his family and his many friends, here and elsewhere.
Very sad news. His posts were so informative and, independent of our levels in the hobby, we each could learn something from them. Sympathy to his family.
