Weathered up this bad boy!

Very nice Nick. The Q-2 is one of my favorite engines. I have the MTH version and plan on changing the pumpkin orange to the earlier primer red/brown shade like MTH originally had on their steamers in the beginning. Looks more proto-typical to me.
Thanks for posting, looking good!
Dave- thanks man I really like the q2 as well ranks high on my prr list for sure. You're right about the paint color. The newer ones are a much lighter red color.
Bobby- thank you very much!
I have that same loco....yet to run her as I bought her super cheap with burned up boards. Someday I'll get her going....
Very nice! Got both runs of the MTH Q2s, and they are both very dependable. Wouldnt trade them for the world!

Be aware that the cab roofs on all Q2 locomotives (and the J1/J1a 2-10-4's) were not red like many other PRR lcoomotive classes. Q2 and J1 cab roofs were the same DGLE (dark green locomotive enamel) as the rest of the locomotive. The tender decks were painted oxide red.
Thanks for that info, Bob. How MTH came up with that bright orange color is beyond me. Their earlier steam were more of the oxide red, similar to Rust-oleum primer, and looked much more realistic.
Very nice!

Sweet!

Looks great
Very nice Nick !

Looks good Nick, have you posted a video on YouTube about the weathering?
I appreciate the nice compliments from everyone!
I haven't posted a video of this on YouTube yet but will be eventually. I had a link for my YouTube page in my signature but tthe OGR link police keep deleting it. If anyone is curious I'm on YouTube as "Pghtrainfanatic"
The Link works in your profile, Nick. Great job on your layout. Video well done.
Nice job Nick.....
Very nicely done
Nick, what is the MTH item number, the 20-3048-1? Cab number?
beast of an engine, wished one had been saved. Love to have one, but I'd have to do some major reworking. Great job!
Well done Nick, that is the best so far, you don't need to make it look like it was parked next to chalk factory! You mastered it, neatly aged. and detailed. You nailed it.
