I have a Weaver GP-38 locomotive that in convention mode only goes forward, no neutral or reverse. The reverse board as

I recall is etched Train America Studio, the Weaver literature specifies the system as Lionel TMCC and Railrounds. One question

regarding TAS and Lionel, is the engine onboard electronic system 100% the Lionel TMCC and Railsounds system?

I copied from the internet, " INSTRUCTIONS TO RESTORE TMCC FUNCTIONS", but do not know the Code Number for this Weaver

engine, requesting information from FORUM members who may have experienced an Weaver engine with the TAS-Lionel TMCC

systems locked in forward mode that will not reset and most important the Engine Code Number.

Thanks

Thanks gunrunnerjohn,

Found the code number in the Weaver instruction with the Weaver GP-38 engine, sometimes being retired I experience senior moments, should have read all of the instructions before I posted the question, reprogrammed the engine following the TMCC procedure, works great in the TMCC command mode.

I have one question, for the conventional mode, is the battery mandatory to prevent directional sequencing issues and if required it is my understanding that the battery would have no effect when operated in the TMCC mode is my assumption correct?

The reason for this question is that I have seven engines with Lionel TMCC Railsounds, the other engines are predominately Williams and some older MTH, I plan on running the TMCC Railsounds separably and in combination with the Williams and MTH engines in conventional mode.

Referring back to the previous paragraph, the Lionel TMCC system has no charging circuit for a BCR capacitor, can the J and W Electronics charging circuit for the BCR be spliced in between the roller pickup( + side) and the negative ground to the outside rails?

The battery in the Lionel TMCC/RailSounds engines is ONLY for sound continuity.  Obviously, for conventional mode, that's a pretty key issue as the power is interrupted regularly.  It has nothing to do with actual movement of the engine.  Many folks, including me, don't put batteries in engines that are run strictly in command mode.

You can use the J&W Charging circuit, that's exactly what it's for, to run the BCR in the Lionel environment.
