Here are some Pennsy tower shots...
If you've been in this hobby for a long time and are a PRR fan, you are probably familiar with this tower on the left. This was built from a classic Quality Craft kit released years ago. I bought mine in the back of the Blue hall at York many years ago. It sat in the box for at least 30 years until I finally assembled it a few years ago. To the right is an old beat up picture I have of the prototype tower at "Mifflin" interlocking in central PA. The model is actually based on "Jacks" tower about 25 miles to the west, accounting for the differences in the window arrangement and other details, but it is pretty close in appearance to Mifflin tower. My model is pretty much the stock kit, but I scratch built the correct tapered chimney and fully detailed the interior.
Other details in the scene are the classic PRR pneumatic piping to operate the switches in the interlocking, the air storage tanks, and the line poles I had manufactured and marketed as a Weaver product...dies now sold to Atlas, but I still have been unable to get them to put them back into production despite repeated requests.
Hope you like this weeks pics!
No train running this week......just packing and moving stuff to the storage unit. I am hoping trains will be running again on Sunday.
I did come across some neat stuff.....
1st, early purchases of mine when I resumed the hobby in 1980.........two boxcars that made me fall in love with the bright graphics of MPC.....9201 & 9211 Jade green PennCentral cars.....
Then a Weaver OGR offering from long ago.....
My MarxTronic Set.......look at the tag.....I was living in Buffalo in 1976 when Grants closed up forever.....
Something I had forgotten that I purchased.....and from K Line.....
Some Lionel product wrapping paper.....in good condition....late 40s, early 50s, I guess?
Hope to finish packing up what I need to pack up and store by tomorrow......and, then back to running trains!
Peter
New York Central GP9 #6001 is a recent MTH Premier model with PS3 shown running through the 36-inch, double-tracked bridge on my 12’-by-8’ layout pulling cars from New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. A very smooth-running engine.

Thoroughly enjoyable posts here. Thanks, guys!!!
A 2020 Christmas Layout Memory
Been featuring the back of the layout the last few weeks. Here's one reminder of the back left corner:
Here's some closeups of the concert going on. As you might be able to tell, absolutely no regard for public health - not a single mask to be seen
And still a little closer

Great photos everyone! My photos of fun for this fine weekend feature the Free State Junction Railway night and day. For most shots I used natural sun light as it came in through the various windows in my train room.
Early morning down at the yard.
A full moon casts its light and shadows.
Many busy employed workers today on the railroad!
And then there is "Little Stevie", a "corner baby" acquired at a train meet in PA a long time ago, named after an adult visitor who caused an Indian Maiden to be run over by a speeding freight train about 20 years ago on my railroad. He has been in time out for about 5 years here in CA!
So, cheating a little here as I posted this on another thread. But really like the picture so...
My new 0-6-0 Docksider setting out a Knickerbocker Beer Woodside reefer.
North Western eastbound empty ore unit train with former CGW SD40 and C&NW SD40-2 before C&NW bought C-628s from Norfolk and Western. Other former CGW NW2 can be seen by front of car repair shop. Ore cars from Lionel, K-Line and MTH.

Hey Neal,
Very nice rendition. Is the prototype on fire?

Dave....ha, ha! No, that's just a scratch on the photograph that looks like flames! The photo is actually matted and quite old. I just took a photo of the photo, and what looks like smoke is just a bit of light reflection off off the glossy surface of the photo!

Mel, how did that SP&S boxcar get in there? The brakemen climbing up top ar a nice touch.
CSam, you don't see the Coffin feedwater heater very often in model railroading. I wonder how many real steamers had them relative to the Elasco?
At our club, one of the members, Bob Pardington, has been an S gauge model railroader for quite a while. He used to get around quite a bit and go to shows and I think he would really enjoy our forum but he’s not big on the internet. However, he really enjoys creating scenery and he gifted a scene to me my son yesterday for our home layout.

Joe,
I was hoping no one would notice. The brakeman was placed atop the SP&S boxcar a long time ago and I have always thought he adds character to the railroad, so I never remove the car from the layout. There must have been at least one SP&S boxcar that made its way East.
