I have 2 different groups of pictures this week. The 1st are pics I took in my attic as I got the Christmas decorations down.

!st is a picture of the box for the 415 Diesel Fueling Station.....what great joy I had just after a Christmas in the early 60s....I use some Chrismas money to buy this great accessory for $4 .......at Honig's Parkway, a trian store under the White Plains Rd El, neat Allerton Avenue in the Bronx.

Next is a 317 Trestle Bridge I bought at a show in the early 90s. It used to have a prominent place on my old layout. But, it was clearly a Christmas present for someone else. Who got it? What kind of feelings did it evoke? This item was originally produced from 1950-56....Where is the original recipient now?

Ah! What a great season! Happy Holidays, everyone!

I've owned the previous version of the Lionel Allegheny for years and found it to be exceptionally detailed and just a great overall looking engine.  However, the chuffing was erratic (due to the cherry switch),  coarse speed control, and the smoke output was poor so I decide to bite the bullet and spend the money to upgrade to the Legacy version.  Boy, I'm glad I did!  The same stunning detail, sounds are amazing including the new hooter whistle, and the smoke output is choking.  I had to put the draw fan on.  Although the whistle steam effect is next to the main stacks I find it a great enhancement.  Not as easy to see in the photos, but you can see it in the video which is where these photos were taken from.  It adds and accelerates the smoke from the main stack making look more realistic (IMO).

My plans for 2016's Christmas Layout are complete and ready to be built.

As I do every year, I create a few 'must dos' and a few 'really want to dos'.  This year's are:

ABSOLUTE TOP PRIORITY – I only had this one MUST

The Christmas tree had to be as close as possible to the front of the layout so that personalized items and Train Party tree gifts were easily visible.  Also, the new Lionel balls from Leighanne and Mike (2015 present).

SECONDARY GOALS – this was considered as a wishful must but became a must as I went on

I wanted the Winter scene, the Easter scene, and Halloween scene up front, especially the Halloween one where the figures are on the street trick-or-treating.

FOLLOWUP GOALS

Both tin-plates had to reverse

I had 2 extra switches so the tin-plates could connect

Use ramps for the Lionel train.  Fun to run.  Can use O27 switches.

Family – fun to run.  Can use O27 switches.

The 1st one is the lower layer measuring 12' x 14'.  Two tin-plate trains will run on it.  That outer dotted line is a down and up ramp coming from one corner of the 'L-shaped' plateau and going to the other corner of it, which will be obvious by looking at the 2nd diagram.  The plateau is 8' on the long sides.

Its funny what 30 dollars and a self promise will throw you into what seems a life long project!

My new find at the Lansing train show last month will keep me hopping for the next 3 months... I was able to find most all the parts, including all 7 car sides for these Walthers Hiawatha Passenger cars in a mystery box at the show... Also found a great new supplier - Scale City Design - will be saved as my bookmark on my laptop...(http://www.scalecitydesigns.co...TY-O-SCALE_c_11.html) They have some great products.

Four of the seven cars are 99 percent complete, the other 2 are close... the observation car will be the biggie!

Sorry about the subliminal Beer sign below, its making me thirsty now on a Friday.

If we could get Giovanna together with my pup Trinket we could have a contender for the cutest picture of the century.  This world needs a lot more cute.

JDaddy, I wanted that set of kits when they came out from Walthers so bad. They were just too long for me. Wish they had made them in 18 inch. I am surprised how many kits were bought but never made. I see them on E-bay every few months. It seemed like the last great O gauge kits Walthers made. Your doing a grand job with them. Don20161125_114239
