Last week the VMT held their annual Train Lovers Day. During special events like this the club layouts in the basement have an open house. Here are some pictures from the On30 layout.

Some NS Charlotte District Pics from last weekend -
A colorful lashup - NS Dash-9 8873 leading SOO & CP units on Rutherford PA bound 204 passes under the MP 330 Southern era signals on the Piedmont Division. The SD60M is the last red painted SOO unit running around.
NS Dash-9 9022 leads 338 through Harrisburg, NC on a cold, gray winter day.
NCDOT/Amtrak F59PH 1869 leads Raleigh - Charlotte train 73 through Harrisburg, NC on the NS Charlotte District 
NS SD70ACe 1070, the Wabash heritage unit, was on the point of 218/P99 as they prepare to tie the train down in old yard. The train would continue it's journey to Charlotte a few hours later when a crew became available.
I'd like to be able to take an afternoon nap, too!

I took some new photos of the Conrail Dash 8 and the NS Dash 8 while working on my new video. I moved the trucks in on the Conrail Dash 8 to improve its appearance.

Just picked up the Grand Central Terminal base to accompany the Lionel structure. I like even when just plopped on the early stages of a layout. Thanks Harry Heike!
A 2015 Christmas Layout memory 
In last week's photo fun (https://ogrforum.com/t...09#55067688239918609) I told about including on the layout a tribute to my sister.
This week I'll post another picture of what I did in her memory. The house is the model of her house that I made. It was the only one that I set out so as to keep focus on it alone. The figure on the porch is one that trainsformations made for me when she was still in business. Again, it was the only figure that I set out so as to keep the focus on her.
For the billboards I removed the original pictures and inserted in each an image of her.
I put the house next to the GWTW drive-in sign, the importance of which I explained last week.

Walt, I always enjoy your posts. I have done the same thing. All my grand children have buildings named after them alluding to their favorite pastimes. My late wife made fantastic soups so there i.e. A diner to honor her. The 5 year old granddaughter has a picture of her dressed up in Trump garb made into a vote billboard on top of a building. Besides running trains , to have constant reminders of the people that you care for depicted on the layout increases the fun.
Thanks TSTARK. I'll post some next week that actually made a few family members cry when they saw it - well, actually 'them', as you'll see.
In hind site, I am so glad that I scrapped my initial layout's plan and re-did it to include several tributes to her.

My finger is already sore from likes.. looks like this will be another good weekend of photos.. Scott sets the tone with some great looking pics and Rich follows up with some very realistic shots of his own. Walt's memory lane is always good. Pat, although I am an eternal Cub fan. Tampa is the home of the Yankees spring training camp and do enjoy the games when I get a chance to go.. Heres mine: Just a reworking of the river under the bridge.

Thank you! I tried to make the room as retro looking as I could to compliment the postwar trains. When I walk in there, I get a feeling like I stepped back to the late 50s/early 60s Now I have to work on finishing the layout up!

Happy weekend to everyone...great stuff so far! My contribution this week is not in the form of photos, rather it's a video of the pair of Lionel Legacy GP38-2's that I recently weathered. Turn up the volume and enjoy!!
Weaver 0-6-0 that has been in storage for about 10 years. Former NYC. Been brought back to life as B&A 145. Cruise Lite was added, Railsound, Atlas roller on one tender truck and an axle wiper on the other. A new shorter drawbar was formed for closer coupling. Added MTH engineer and fireman. I usually just weather with an airbrush. On this one I used a lot of weathering powders sealed with flat coat. Really good runner and it will be earning it's keep switching the branch line.

Those stools, that couch, and the wood paneling sure does give that room a 50s/60s vibe. Kind of reminds me of my dad's rec room in his basement. He didn't have a train layout, he had a bar instead.
