Our dear friend, Alan Arnold (leavingtracks) came up from Mountain Home, AR for the train meet here in town. While he was here he took some great pictures of my layout. Here is just one of them:
Well, I'm a little embarrassed to show pics of my layout because I don't have the space, skill and money to compete with you guys but I have decided on a track plan (it only took me 9 months! LOL).
My chief engineer (my 3 year old grandson) says he likes it and that's what matters most. Now it's time to finish laying the Quietbrace and get on to some scenery.

Bill,
There's no reason to be a little embarrassed at all.. this isn't a competition of any sort. This is about fun and relaxation. Looks like a nice plan and I sure wish I had your space. Most layouts evolve over time. I have torn out and redone parts of my layout many times over the last 10-12 years. So tinker with the layout as you go that's how you get skill or just leave it as is and have fun.Enjoy the hobby and keep posting pictures.

Here is some posting information to those newer to W.P.F.
If you would like your pictures to show up in the body of your posting here is what you do.
After you upload the picture there pops up a box asking if you want a large size photo posted in the photo body. You need to check that box;
That's all there is to it.

You're doing just fine Bill, that attic configuration with the low knee walls and skylight tubes ain't an easy one. Anyway, you only need to satisfy the "Chief Engineer" and his Section Gang. Doing good in Burlington.
This mess[below] is embarassment....procrastination.
Bill, as a public service, and in an effort to show you that size and skill are not strict prerequisites to posting on this thread, here are some pictures of mine!

"Small layout...Big dreams"
Here is another picture of Roger Wasson's layout that I took during the big Springfield Missouri Ozarks Model Railroad Association train meet this past Saturday. I didn't have my photo lights with me but the end result almost looks like late afternoon sunset at the Frisco station. Roger's layout is fabulous!!
Have a great weekend everyone!
Alan
The Lionel Lincoln Funeral Train arrived this week. My layout is sceniced for the 1950s so the train is out of place by about 90 years. I didn’t buy it to run on my layout. The train runs on AC only, no Railsounds or TMCC or smoke and no E-unit, only a reversing switch in the tender. Because I am a great admirer of Abraham Lincoln, I had to have it for my collection. It is one of the few shelf queens that I own.
The layout area in this photo is history. I am in the process of rehabbing two major areas of the layout. This is one.
Enjoyable viewing this morning folks.
Thanks.
Roger:
Love your new roundhouse. Despite your reported difficulties getting instructions on a timely basis, it looks like you completely succeeded in getting it right. This is a real compliment to your wonderful model railroad. Thanks to Alan for taking pictures.
My wife and I gathered some lichen from the woods near here and painted it up to use on the club layout where a 'real' mountain transitions to the wall.
Here is my old 2343's painted in Santa Fe freight colors passing by..
That Santa Fe catwisker merchandiser paint scheme with the red pinstripes certainly was handsome.
Running my DCS and TMCC engines using my new iPad Mini. This is the engine control screen...
This is part of the engine picking list...
This is the lower level track plan, with the ability to throw switch tracks...
This is the list of accessories that may be activated...
Come to the MTH booth at York for more info!

Bill it looks great. As long as your grandson enjoys it is all that is needed.

Barry thanks for the picts. This will help capture the video generation.
Is it just me or are the minor MPH increments between the displayed numbers on the speedometer off? I mean the halfway increments are clearly half of the previous or next number displayed, but the increments in between don't make sense. Looks like they're in increments of four, which is bizarre. If you want to be at 50 SMPH then the needle would be halfway between the four increment lines before the halfway mark to 80.
MPH increments appear to be in 4MPH increments.

Will this new control require add-on hardware to the TIU?
Yes, it will.
Passenger Train Collector: That looks like early LGB catenary on your layout. How hard was it to cut down to "0" height?

The layout looks great. It looks like a fun track plan and very good use of a small space. I look forward to seeing more pictures
Thanks for the kudos. I work slowly but I'll post more pics as I go along.

The fleet was delivered this week. The Borden's milk delivery fleet that is.

You nailed it, it is the LGB System. At the time I could not find anything else. I cut the towers to shorten them and made new bases. Not very difficult.

Ditto! So long as your having fun and running trains size doesn't matter!
Hello to all, I had to try my hand at adding a few photos of my layout.I have the track about where I want it.It is L shaped,16' X 12' two levels.I lean towards postwar lionel so all track is lionel tubular 3 rail.I have a long way to go and a lot to learn about O guage and photo taking.

I wish I still had as much fun with model trains as it appears your having with your layout! Have fun and don't be hesitant to share with us here!
Bill:
Nothing wrong with your layout. It is all about fun and when it is with kids and grand kids size of the layout means nothing. My grandson and I had a ball on the floor with his first set.
Scott:
Great meeting you today at that old guys place. I do love this thread you start and see you were at it very early this morning. Please email me the information we talked about.
