WEEKEND PHOTO FUN IS HERE!

Here are some pictures taken this week while working on the VMT layout.

It's fitting to open the thread this week with one of Walt's Cameron's trolleys (Western Hobbycraft). I just found that he passed away two day ago.

A 2013 Christmas layout memory

This was a little 9' extension set up to help the kids enjoy some of my play toys.  One track, my PW 2343 would back into it pushing the coal car up the ramp so it could dump its load and then the kids could turn on the conveyor.  The load wasn't coal though - it was Nerds candy.

The other track had the magnetic gantry crane.  It also had 6 cars that made up my stationary candy train (the cars aren't loaded yet in these pictures).

"Small layout...Big dreams"

Great work from everyone.

Killer work Steve.

Mike, nice fitting, what radius curves?
Walt, are you using one of those remote master power on/off switches?

Thanks, they're 0-72.  It's actually a little too tight a fitting.  The tunnel on the right, I had to go back with a Dremel and widen the opening between the tracks to accommodate some of the larger cars that are out there.  Part of the learning experience!

Here are pictures of my 21" PRR streamliner consist.  I plan to pull it with my 6-motor Lionel Legacy E7 ABA.

Project cost, 240 million dollars, completed on budget.  You would think the bridge could have been built a few dollars less without the observation deck, but WOW!!!! Enjoy the view.

Behind the dam I see white on the bottom of the cliffs.  Is that from the water level or some kind if rock or block work? Calcium carbonate.  Shows the maximum water level of Lake Mead.  Down at least 100 ft.

Daughter-in-law, Emily, Son, Matt.  Emily's Selfie.  I took at least three pictures for strangers when on the Bridge observation deck.

Bruce, My cousins lived across the tracks from Carlin's in the 40's and  50's.   My father and Uncle Charlie used to tell our mothers they were taking us train watching and you know where they went.  Ayer was a great place to watch steam.  I have a very clear memory of all the big B & M steam 24/7.  We were about 60 feet from the tracks and the big steam rolled all day.  To get from our side of the tracks to the Carlin's area was a tunnel to walk through under the tracks.  Dotty and I still go to Ayer a few times a year to watch a few trains and heve breakfast at TINY'S.
