LW21-12 Observation

As soon as I can find a K-Line Huron Rapids sleeper, the train will be complete.

Ron

CAPPilot, Ron how did you come up with a six-motor Lionel Legacy E7 ABA set??

Ron

Just received today from a member.

Where else could you find a 7 year old Golden Gate 100 ton Coaling Tower that is BRAND NEW, even the box. The original shipping container only has a couple scratches.

Much appreciated Frank.

And earlier this week a very nice Spirit of the Century AA and the 4 aluminum passenger cars.

Much thanks Brian.

Been a very good week.

Have a great weekend all.

Wow, never thought Ayer will be that famous!

here is something familiar for you, too!

The Tennessee, Alabama and Georgia was a busy bridge line in NE Alabama, E Tenn

and NW Georgia that liked to buy ex-NYC power. They had some ex-NYC H-5 Mikados,

and two ex-NYC(B&A) Berkshires, which were running former Hudson tenders by

then (as K-line did, correctly).

So I took my K-line B&A Lima Berk and did the obvious; I could not locate the TAG Berk

prototype photos online (they are rare - but I have a couple on paper).

I did TA&G #602, which was B&A #1434; I did a K-line Berk for a friend as TA&G 601

(1424). It's kind of nice to know that at least the REAR of a couple of NYC Hudsons

ran in my home state of Alabama! (The Berks weren't shabby, either.)

The photos below are not particularly good:

PRRronbh-Ron,

My 6-motor ABA set is really two 6-34508 AA sets with the addition of the 6-34510 powered B.  I had Alex M., when he added sound to the B unit, swap the A shells so that one powered A has engine #5848 and the other has #5849.  Turned out to be more expensive than planned since I could not find the AA sets very cheap in the secondary market.

Problem is I now have a box with two Legacy dummy As that I do not know what to do with.

Let's see your pictures.

So sorry to hear about Walt. I bought two of his trolleys and I still have one of them. I will never sell it. I had a long conversation with him the day I bought the trolleys. He was a very nice man. A gentleman in every sense of the word. My sincerest condolences to his family.

Dave C: Great to see you posting again. I always enjoy seeing pictures of your layout. It's very inspirational. That scene looks great!

Lima: my apologies but I don't know what you are asking of me.  I use remotely controlled power "switches" for stuff like turning on the Christmas tree lights and some other layout stuff related to accessories (like the power supply to the portable DVD player used for my drive-in).  I can't think of what you saw in my 2 photos though that would lead to your question.

Sorry - walt

UPDATE: I went back and took another look and saw that the controller was visible in one of the photos.  In 2013 I used it to control the DVD player; speakers hidden under the elevated area that I had connected to a CD player; and the power source for my miller signs (also hidden under the elevated area).

Since my Texas layout is still under major modification work, I had to post a photo of my custom Army train consist on the display shelving.  I recently added Army flats with Duck, submarine and boat loads and my third Lionel baby Madison troop car.  I am awaiting the Lionel Army "vat" car to arrive soon.

I'm also working on my Army base plans for my modified layout.  I did pick a name for the military base.......Camp Crockett.

100_2280 [Large)

The excellent Kraus-Maffei V200 from MBW..can't wait for the Federal Railways version.

100_2304 [Large)

Upgraded drive for the MTH Traxx and Taurus from Studio 45...4 motors, DCC only.

100_2323 [Large)

At the Hermann both had finally the chance to meet and chat with fellow forum member Stefan Burki..and they have again a few nice surprise on hand.

The hand made sample of the upcoming German Crocodile E94 in the Austrian OBB version 1020.

100_2326 [Large)

2 Swiss exclusive from MTH/ Hermann, the Traxx in the BLS "Alpinist" scheme and the German Crocodile in the Swiss version...has only 1 pantograh, Swiss marking and lighting and Indusi magnet, also a hand made pre-production sample.

100_2325 [Large)

And a couple of new Hermann passengers cars...they are simply superb.

100_2327 [Large)

100_2328 [Large)

A prototype model of the under construction Transhelvetica Gotthard "Piggy-Back" service...the flat car platform raise a bit,  turn to an about 45 degre angle, then the truck roll in, un-couple the trailer and roll out. The platform then turn back in place. The engine at the front is a MTH Traxx.

100_2300 [Large)

100_2301 [Large)

That's about it for 0 scale...a few more interesting pictures

A splendid wooden model in 1:11 of the 1938 CP 4-4-4 "Jubilee"...except for a few metal screws and the motor/ drivetrain (in the tender)..it's all wood.

100_2293 [Large)

100_2294 [Large)

A bit smaller, 1887 Porter 1...not so sure about the Pensilvania lettering..

100_2295 [Large)

Clash of scale...front of an USA Trains G scale Big Boy, with Z scale running in the back ground...doesn't matter...it's all fun.

100_2313 [Large)

The rest of the show was all HO, HOm, N and Z...some stunning new features...some are so so....nice to see depleting coal load in HO, work well and give a nice effect, specially with all the sounds...holograms style doors opening/closing and people boarding/ unboarding passengers unit is neat to see.

Was a great show, fairly low in attendance..at least for the 3 hours I was there.
