As some of you know, my son Steven has been working on the layout with me since he was three years old. Trains are his true love, so much so, that he is a now a conductor and hopefully soon to an engineer for the Reading and Northern Railroad in Eastern Pennsylvania. Here is a picture of him in the cab of one of the units and one of the many SD-40'2's owned by the railroad that he has been a conductor on (photo just taken by Steven before starting work on Wednesday):
So, I had just had to add a pair of the special run of a pair of these locos done by Grzyboski's Trains in Moosic, PA. see for yourself:
Finally, here is a video of the pair at work huling a coal drag on the layout:
Lionel has also announced in the 2023 Vol 2 catalog the gray R&N SD-50's the railroad also owns and that Steven has worked on, so one of those is on order to add to the consist as well!
That's it for this week! Enjoy...
More great trains from week 2 of the Titans of Transportation exhibit at the Keystone Truck & Tractor Museum.....
Forum member PatrickB putting one of his CSX units in the middle of the train.....not an uncommon sight around here......
Modular group member BobW with his original set 1561 from 1956 (with an additional car added later, the flat with the boat).
A gracious donation from Mark Boyce.......that was a big hit with the kids......
This is separate from the Keystone show.......this is from a get together last weekend in Eastern Division President, Bob Buehler's basement.....he has been looking for this gorgeous MTH streamlined passenger set for years.....and, he finally found one!
One very short video, showing the split up CSX power units.......
Have a great and safe weekend, folks!

Another project for me (like I need another one )..........a few weeks back, one of my high school buddies sent me a box of old trains from his childhood that were in his garage....
They needed a little work to be sure......and, as always, I love resurrecting damaged PostWar since I am a "loop runner' at heat!
The 9" Whirlpool boxcar and the 6464 New Haven boxcar have been cleaned. The caboose needs a new cabin. The Gang car and the 637 have been serviced.
The 637 proved to have more extensive damage. It seemed to have had a date with a concreate floor (see pic below). Luckily, the 637 shares the same body with some venerable O27 cousins which I own......the 2018 and the 2037 (my 2018 is in the picture).
Carefullu, with a pair of pliers, I pulled on the cow catcher so that it now clears the pilot wheels and is "free wheeling'.
The Bosco car is now fully operational.......and, it had two original Bosco cans!
Have a great and safe weekend, folks.
Peter
We are in the process of installing a working signal system on my layout that we can run our trains by in our operating sessions. Here is a picture of some of the crew from the fictional company Pro Signals that we hired to design and install the system. They are examining an American made searchlight double aspect mast signal and unloading a sample out of a container from overseas.
If you want to follow our progress you can click on this link to the thread on it.

Neil - Like
the tie-ins to real railroading especially with your son, Steven. Never tire of seeing pictures of your beautiful layout. You have set a high bar for the rest of us and that is a good thing.
Peter - Another great set of pictures! I don't know where you get all the energy, but it's fun watching your modeling and activities. I may have to start referring to you as "the energizer bunny" as we do my wife who never sits still.

Art.....you are very kind. I had been told that I would regret retirement and would be bored.....NOT SO! My wife is still working full time, so I have the responsibility for meals, shopping and house upkeep......and still have plenty of time to pursue the hobby. The best thing that has happened was being asked to precept one morning a week in Renal Clinic at the VA.....it's been a blast......retirement is just great!
Sometines, I truly wonder when I had time to work.....

Peter,
What did I keep telling you...retirement is great! I miss my patients, but I sure don't miss insurance companies, Health care system management, and EHR!

Give my congratulations to Steven!
As a retired train service railroader, I can say that railroading has one of the best retirements for working class individuals.
Encourage him to listen to, and practice, life saving tips and to ALWAYS keep his head cut-in when on the job!
It's a wonderful thing when you enjoy your job.

Christmas in July
Just found an old photo book of mine. These were taken in 1991 in the lower mezzanine of the WTC. The layout was designed by Clark Dunum. It ran for 2 or 3 years. It was later opened in Citi Corp Center as Citi Station Express.

Oh yes!
Walt……
Remember when we started here?
1st, we had to download pics from our “new” digital camera storage cards …….. with a cord or a wired digital reader…
Then, we had to resize pics to make them smaller, so that the site would accept them…….
Now, with the advanced phone cameras we carry and wireless technology, it’s so easy!
I can’t thank OGR Magazine enough for keeping up with the technology!

Love the lights on the boxcar.
It is late 1949 and a F3 ABA consist is making up time with the afternoon's express. These F3s are less than a year old. The photographer was happy to see so many different types of express cars on this run.
F3 consist is 3rd Rail (all powered, all with sound), cars are from all manufacturers and represent actual paint schemes from the late 40s. Nearly all represent the actual car type.
New release from RMT US Navy Naval Shipyard Pearl Harbor tank car.
New release from MTH US Navy Seabees crane.
These are the four recently completed Northern Pacific North Coast Limited dome cars:
Props to Christine Braden for painting the vista dome inserts; without her these don't get made. On to the observation car's final assembly.
Craig, everytime that you post one of your awesome videos I wish more and more that other video posters would make theirs as short as yours. What else I like about yours is that they come directly to point of the video.
thanks for them and keep 'em coming
