A 2022 Christmas Layout memory
A slightly different view of the Christmas section. The 2 ceramic trains are really special to me. Each car has the name of one of 8 family members (son, daughter, in-laws, 4 grandkids) with the engines and cabooses having my name

This was a big week for me. Picked up my finished Altoona Model Works 5 stall Roundhouse that my buddy Bob helped build. I couldn't be happier. Check this beauty out!
I love the interior. I will eventually add various shop details, workers, equipment, etc.
I should mention that, while the directions instruct you to cut each individual timber piece separately, we laser cut the main support structure for faster assembly and increased strength.
Not only is it the star of my peninsula, but I think its the crowning jewel of the whole layout!
If you're wondering, a 5 stall roundhouse does fit in the trunk of a Chevy Blazer
This wasn't scary at all...
One of my favorite parts of the roundhouse. My buddy @MichRR714 may have some similar "graffiti" in his roundhouse too.
A few more shots. Next is getting the whisker tracks nailed down, wired, and weathered.

The interior of your roundhouse is NEXT LEVEL Jason! I honestly thought I was inside the actual building. GREAT JOB!!

This Labor Day Weekend. The grandchildren are spending three nights with Grandma & Grandpa. Before I took them for a boat ride on Middle Straits Lake. We shot the opening to a Youtube video. Unboxing an Amtrak Pacific Surf Liner #440. I purchased the locomotive when it was on sale at Train World, Brooklyn New York.
Thanks for taking a look, Gary from Michigan: Hope to see you out rail-fanning. 🚂

Nothing too fancy this week. Just more trains for my Amtrak stainless fleet. Just what I need - more Amtrak stainless passenger cars.
However, one can never have enough 10-6 sleepers in the pool and the baggage / lounge will be popular with the 1:48 passengers of my 1970's era Broadway Limited. Sure, these are generic cars, but I personally find them to be extremely well executed. They are wonderful at filling out the missing cars in a scale length train. I have the other 4 cars offered in Phase I Amtrak coming this next week.
Hopefully a video in the not-too-distant future showing these cars running on my club layout!

Thanks so very much Bob!
Pigs added to the farm thanks to Bill Park who gave them to me as a gift, in front of an outhouse thanks to my 30 something son, David, who gifted it to me:

Autumn 1964, Mountain Springs, Arkansas...
A tired and weary pair of F's ease past the Ozark Redi-Mix batch plant in the process of making a set out at the small town of Mountain Springs, Arkansas (Pop: 1200) on the Kansas City & Gulf's "Ozark Subdivision".
That done, they'll get back onto their train, build air, and after whistling off, they'll head for the tiny mountain town of Piney that's situated on top of the most notorious grade on the entire KC&G: Buck Mountain Grade.
Taking heavy trains down grades, and slugging their way up them, is what the KC&G's Ozark Sub is all about: 111 miles of mountain railroading from Branson, Missouri straight down south through the gut of the Ozarks to Clarksville, Arkansas.
When it comes to the KC&G's Ozark Sub, don't go by sound of the term "Bankrupt" nor the look of their needy equipment occasioned by same, when you skin back the peeling, you'll find at the core, working the Ozark Sub on the KC&G is nothing but hard workin' railroadin' with little margin for error, and their crews are some of the best on rails.
About the above picture:
The photo was taken on my HO scale 15' x 19' layout that's in a dedicated building. The layout is a semi-dual level layout that uses a "Nolix" to connect the levels. I cut the first piece of lumber for this layout in February of 2019, and by July of '19 it was 100% functional. The layout has been through one major and several minor revisions as I fine tuned my concept. I'm 99% satisfied with the track plan I now have. The basic light blue backdrop, LED lighting, and fascia work was accomplished over the course of last year's summer into winter. The layout has reached the point that it's ready for scenery. I do have some temporary scenes in place for now (such as the Photoflat of "Ozark Redi-Mix" seen in the picture, as well as some cardboard terrain contour profiles in place (cardboard is so much easier to edit until you're happy with the slopes/etc than redoing permanent scenic form!)
The layout is point to point with a main line run about 133' and represents the ruling grade of the entire (fictional) KC&G system. I model only a small portion of the theoretical "Ozark Sub". Getting tonnage trains up Buck Mountain is the operational focal point for the mainline, along with town industry switching at the lower town of "Ozarka" and the upper town of "Mountain Springs". Between the two towns are several online customers at small towns that also get rail service. Oh, and there's the large gravel concern "Arkansas Gravel" that is the biggest producer of freight for the KC&G's Ozark Sub.
I very much enjoy my Kansas City & Gulf theme and the layout.

I got around to weathering my new Legacy L1. Went in a little heavier with the Grimy Black to get that green toned down:

Nice looking layout and great railroad tale.
So underneath all the dirt and soot lays the iconic Pennsylvania Railroad DGLE? I would never have guessed.
WOW #Craignor. You've put some L-O-N-G trains together. I still remember the boxcar vid you did

No, it was Lionel’s booger green they tried to pass off on this one! I hosed it pretty good to get it to where it’s at now.
Last weekend the Austin Tinplate Trackers had our layout setup at the NMRA - National Train Show up in Grapevine, Texas. The National Train Show is held at the end of the week long NMRA National Convention. We got to see and talk with manufacturers like Atlas O and Williams by Bachmann. Our layout and my city one an award for the Best Downtown Scene.
On Friday of the show I had the pleasure of meeting an OGR Celebrity, Mister @PRRMiddleDivision himself, Neal Schorr, who had been there all week for the convention. On Saturday I met John Cody aka @BigBoy25 on here.
It was a fun show despite some signal issues we experienced. Seeing old friends and making new ones is a huge part of this hobby. Here's a few shots of the layout and the trains we ran.
