Peter, what fun it must be to be in a group like this.

Andy are Bob W's tribute cars custom? I don't recall seeing any of them before.
Johan, that's the address I used so I'll have to look into why it never got to you before I try again.

Hey Peter - think you can get us some videos from today? I'd really love to see Tom Gs N&W passenger fleet in action!

That's great stuff.
I will say, however, that pictures like the above simultaneously please and frustrate me. I am delighted to see the joy and curiosity on those kids' faces, particularly the little guy in the blue shirt on the left.
I'm a bit frustrated, however, due to the seeming indifference projected by the body language of the adults. The dad in the plaid shirt looks to be engaged, but the others look like they're thinking about all the errands they have to run. They look like they're seconds away from looking at their watches. I'm not sure any of them would think to convert this fun experience into an actual gift for under the tree.
Do others reading these comments think it would be a bit over the top to put a sign on all four sides of these layouts that says:
Welcome children, young and old!
Please be sure to tell Santa and Mom and Dad
that a train set would make a great Christmas gift!
(Just ask any of us to help!)
Would this be "too much" or a bit over the top?

P.S. I apologize if the adults in the picture are friends of anyone reading this. I'm not picking on them specifically, I'm just trying to make a general point about how to get kids into the hobby.Steven, I totally agree with you on your take on this picture. A sign might help and I don’t think it would hurt. It seems to me that by and large most people just don’t have an interest in trains but anything that can be tried to awaken the train bug in people is worth trying in my opinion.
Steve/Phil.....I think you just caught a bad frame....the enthusiasm of the great majority of the parents, including the 20 & 30 year olds was excellent....
I've spent 8 hours running trains the last 2 days with another 5-6 tomorrow....

The scale and variety of your buildings and structures and use of Atlas track really sets it apart for many others. Great display sir!

Moms and dads need to watch the excitement on their child’s face. Go out and buy a 4x8 sheet of plywood and a starter set and see what happens.

And that my friend is exactly why we do this. I've never met a child that didn't love trains. Their reaction warms this old grandfather's heart.
The new MTH Premier C&O Chessie System ACF Center Flow 2=bay covered hoppers arrived from Muffins Trains.
They are painted to exactly match C&O ACF Center Flow hoppers built in 1979.
These are great models.

I am very happy to receive my LCCA Christmas boxcar for 2017 today. I rushed to take some photos.
I already posed it with my Postwar Celebration 773, which I picked up in October. Now, to make a full train of my 6 or so Christmas boxcars.
