What are the Smoke resistors on Lionel Consolidation 2231670PL | O Gauge Railroading On Line Forum

I have a Lionel Mr. Muffin special run consolidation 2231670PL (similar to the cataloged 2231120). This has the smoke unit below in it and both resistors have broken wound wire and need to be replaced. No idea how that happened. Anyway, does anyone know if these are 8-ohm resistors? the smoke unit number is cs-6802695200-p.

Any ideas on what happened here also are appreciated. I am praying it has nothing to do with the main board... below.

It has thermistors so a pretty good bet the resistors are 8 ohm. Interesting there is no reference to resistor value. Chances are good the thermistors are too far from the resistors or hope thats the problem. That LCP board costs more than many engines.

The resistors are 8 ohms for the RCMC and LCP2/3 boards.
