The vast majority of our passenger car inventory has moved to Lightweight passenger cars sets. I believe this was primarily caused by the impact of the Lionel 4-pack streamline set that was made to go with the Sante Fe F3s in the Post War era. This started a lifelong love of Lightweight passenger trains sets. Additionally, with the wonderful products in the K-Line and GGD 21" passenger car market, I have been drawn more intensely to Lightweight passenger cars.
I received an e-mail yesterday from a Forum member asking my opinion of the Lionel B&O F3s from 2003. I did not hesitate to tell him that I believe they are an excellent value. This started me thinking about the mix of engines we have that pull our Lightweight passenger cars sets. It did not take very long to realize that the majority of engines assigned to our Lightweight passenger car inventory were F Units.
I realize that your choice of Railroads and what they used (diesel/electric/steam) may dictate your power up front. But taking this into consideration, what do you pull your Lightweight passenger car sets with? It will be interesting to learn if some of you are like me with most of your Lightweight passenger cars pulled by F units.
