Haven't been watching recent new items very closely and am curious as to why this car seems so high priced.

Did it come in a set? Trainz has one for just under $300 which seems awfully high for a single car of recent production. Even the popular Polar Express scale cars are much more reasonable at about $125 - $150 ea aren't they?

Has a camera in it like the cabooses they produced.

#2 ever increasing big "L" pricing
#3 includes special features- specifically it's a wifi camera car. So a huge chunk of the cost is the big "L" using a cheap spy cam, rebranding the software that I think is dead, and charging you for the fun.
MSRP was $400!!!!

Nice car but I think I'll pass due to having the camera. I have a theater car and don't use it so far, AND also have Apple/Mac but no interest...
If anyone has one WITHOUT a working camera and would like to part with it for a reasonable price I'd be interested however...

That's OK. 21" passenger cars in O scale are too huge for most layouts, anyway. Plus, they just don't look right. 😉

An A-B-A of F units and six of these cars runs about 14.2 feet long. About the same as my Subaru Forester SUV. So lengthwise it's like driving a car around your layout. Yes, too huge for most layouts!

I guess that really leaves me out with this train, I suspect it's longer than 14 feet! 
For many auctions, trainz knocks a certain percentage off the price every so often. And then if you decide to buy the item, go directly to trainz.com to save a bit more - you will have to search for it, but it should not be that difficult. Just keep in mind, like all other auctions, someone else might want to spend more than you do.

Well obviously, most of us don't have the 1,000-acre, sprawling layout that you have, John. So, I'm sure it would have no trouble handling a 14-foot long train. Oh, and by the way, has every one of your 87 dozen steam locomotives had a chance to run on your new layout? 🤔 
Well, not all of them have run, but I've probably gotten around to about half of the fleet by now. Some are still in boxes and buried, they have a long wait before they see daylight.
